Agreed. We’ll just have to wait until such time as the Constitution is amended again.
So you agree with getting rid of it but just don’t think Trump should do an executive order or try another way?
I think always put all options on the table. 1. Executive order, 2. Court etc… and if that fails… 3. Constitutional amendment.
That’s like saying Australia shares a border with Thailand…
Birthright citizenship should only be given to children of legal immigrants. Certainly not to tourists going with the purpose of taking advantage of this loophole.
This is a good thing. Australia struggled with illegals doing births of children in Australia. I was issuing tourist visas to women who went to Australia to give birth. Was funny to see them when they returned and Australia had quietly changed the law.
Illegals in the USA cannot own guns but it is allowed for citizens. So those claiming that illegals are entitled to birth citizenship for their children might be proven incorrect.
Will be funny to see the gobsmacked faces of the smug left learning legal scholars once the right leaning Supreme Court judges vote in Trumps favor.
Trump is not planning to amend the Constition. He will simply issue executive orders ignoring it while relying on his trained poodles in the Supreme Court to violate the law. Trump, like his followers here, think the U.S. Constitution is toilet paper.
Actually, those “trained poodles” you mention are Supreme Court judges whose job is to interpret the Constitution. If they so happen to somehow “interpret” that birthright citizenship doesn’t extend to illegal immigrants and tourists… then that is now the law…
Their job isn’t to not sit, stay, or roll over for opinions you prefer.
It’s all paper, isn’t it? One just happens one just so happens to have some vague writing on it, the other just keeps you from making a mess of your pants after taking a ![]()
Funny how each of Trump’s SCOTUS appointees have ruled against Trump in the past.
Lets try to change taiwans law first , baby steps !
Let’s make Taiwan grant citizenship to any child born of a Taiwanese parent (either mom or dad) regardless of when they were born. HOw about that for a campaign?
The USA should also require one parent to be a US citizen for the child to gain citizenship AND the child does NOT have to be born in the USA.
Do you have a US citizen spouse?
The US grants citizenship based off descent already.
Yes forgot so that solves it
No birthright citizenship period
My spouse is not an American citizen
I am a US citizen in fact because dad was a U.S. citizen
But I don’t have TW citizenship even though born and raised in TW to a TW mother
Is your spouse eligible for US citizenship?
No, their job is to ignore the Constitution and sit, stay and roll over for the opinions Trump prefers.
Wow. They must be bad dogs.
yes she is and she may apply but has not yet. is that relevant? She has indonesian citizenship.
Well, if you really want that Taiwanese citizenship, if you have a US spouse, you could just go through the process as a foreigner and then have a US spouse sponsor your return and reacquisition of US citizenship.
It sucks that they deny matrilineal citizenship before a certain time, so this is my suggestion to you.
nah not going through that circus
Like I’ve said before, the justices were chosen by the Federalist Society. Judges have more integrity than politicians. That’s not saying much, but it’s still true.
