Ending contract for health reasons

I have lupus and have had severe flare up for the first time in many years.

I went to see a Rhumatoid specilist in Hsinchu and he said it would be best for me to be closer to a specialist considering my current condition.

I have been with my current school just over 2 months now and there is NO ONE that specializes in Lupus or RA.

I am able to get work where the specialist is but how do i go about breaking contract?

As someone with a thousand health problems including chronic illness, I send virtual hugs. Flares suck. Take care of yourself as best you can!

As for work, i don’t know the legal side of things.

You get 30 days of half pay for sick leave per year under the LSA. Your employer’s accountant will come up with all sorts of reasons never to pay the full amount if you take more than two days off in a row.

I would imagine that talking to your employer about your condition and possible accommodations would be the place to start. People can be really stupid about understanding invisible disabilities, as you probably already know (“you don’t look like anything is wrong with you” ~my current boss) so make sure you have all the documentation. At minimum, get a note from your doctor explaining your condition and the accommodations you need.

(I would also like to know if anyone knows or has experience with breaking contracts for health reasons.)

Best of luck and hang in there!

I see a RA doctor in San Xia at En Ju Gong hospital.

Is that any closer?

And sorry, I hear you, flare ups suck. :grimacing:
