The 5 NTD for first half an hour thing is annoying. Have to refill my MRT card a lot more often now.
On flip-flops?
Has youbike increased the seat adjustment? I have to max out the adjustment and then it’s not quite enough.
You would think 2.0 would have been fully implemented by now. We’ve had it in Kaohsiung over a year.
What does 2.0 improve on specifically?
No fixed docking stations with underground wiring.
Communication is instead through the cloud.
Hence more flexible and cheaper to set up the docking stations.
Guy
But docking stations are still fixed. Just not wired.
So they have to be returned to a dock? Or can you lock and leave anywhere? I rented one and when I locked it to go into a store it made me scan my card in the bike. It said thanks for using youbike 2.0. Could I have left it?
To unlock it, I had to scan my card again. By “lock it” I mean the little metal pin.
I ended up taking to a dock anyways
That’s a temporary lock up (like when you’re zipping into 7-11). Time on your card keeps ticking until you return to the bike to a dock.
Guy
No
That’s what I thought but after clicking the temporary lock in it made me scan the card. It gave me the amount charged and said thanks for renting.
To unlock it, I had to “re-rent” it and was charged a second amount when I returned it to the dock. It really confused me.
I was thinking maybe they’ll implement an app that shows where youbikes are locked everywhere around the city or something? Like those scooters in the USA that are left around everywhere haha
I wouldn’t really call 2.0 an improvement for riders, but an improved bike management system.
The 2.0 bikes ergonomics for me has declined. The handlebars are lower than 1.0 bikes and stress the lower back muscle. The handlebars aren’t low enough to fully bend over like a road bike, and aren’t high enough to sit up straight.
The bell actually works, unlike 1.0 where most of the times, it doesn’t ring. The seat adjustment is way easier - with the 1.0, many times the seat adjustment lever would be too tight.
But I find the handlebar on the 2.0 heavier and hence difficult to manoeveur.
The 2.0 bike ergonomics are messed up.
I can’t sit straight up and touch the handlebars.
They put these big muffin handle grips on the handlebars because they know people have to lean over on them.
Adds stress to lower back and shoulders.
Look at people riding, they’re kind of hunched over and weight is leaning forward on the handlebar at an awkward angle.
Chiropractor would probably vote no.

You know you can change the tightness of the lever right? Just spin it around while it’s unfastened
I think he was the same guy who rode up Hehaunshan a few years ago.
same bike too, by the looks of it!
That is awesome.
Guy
Somebody did Hehuanshan on Youbike 2.0?
