Chinese Medicine: Painting the Human Landscape
Mondays, March 25th - April 29th, 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Chinese physician looks at a patient the way a painter looks at a landscape - as a particular arrangement of being, behavior, interaction and life signs in which the essence of the whole can be seen.

Ted J. Kaptchuk, The Web that has no Weaver

Chinese medicine is a form of medicine distinctly different from the modern medicine practiced in the West today. It is rooted in ancient Chinese culture and developed over thousands of years into what is currently known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Chinese medicine can be viewed as both a science as well as an art and has developed over the years as doctors have formulated new theories pertaining to how man is influenced by his environment. It is a holistic and physiological based medicine; never separating any one aspect from the whole.

Join us as we delve into the study of this medicine and it’s outlook on the human body and illness. Using The Web that has no Weaver, a core text of Chinese medicine, this course will look at the fundamentals of TCM, Yin and Yang, the fundamental textures, the organ systems, and the meridians of the body, and how to use this knowledge in diagnosis and treatment. Attendees will also have the chance to ask questions of Khenchen Rinpoche, a meditation master who started learning and practicing Chinese medicine at a young age.

This class is suitable to all levels.
