Exercise more (walk more)

Seems full, or the link not working

Wasn’t able to sign up with my APRC number. A real shame since I do the biking numbers every day.

Looks to me like it’s already full up. So they only had a budget for 13% of the country. I wonder if the 3 million who have signed up are people who already exercise enough anyway? Shame they couldn’t make the tax rebates dependent on walking. In fact I’d prefer it if they were able to link it to finding a reasonable place to park and walking round the corner to places instead of often parking right outside and blocking the street or even blocking the actual entrance to places. But that would lead us towards the horror of China’s state surveillance and would also be ableist. Not to mention the unfunny game of musical chairs that is the street parking situation.

Anyway. thanks for sharing the link. I read promising news headlines about this initiative, but then the articles only mentioned getting coupons for things like getting cancer screenings or vaccinations. I’m glad that exercise is also being rewarded. I seem to remember @finley mentioning on several occasions that the government should promote getting more exercise.

The program is only available to Taiwanese nationals with HHR / ID card. Foreigners and NWOHRs are not able to register.

I think that’s another program (Health Tokens):

The health tokens one is supposedly open to furiners.

Health tokens are - sweat politely is not.

And a .gov site too! Send a strongly worded email.

Already did. They told me that budget is limited and thus they limit participation based on having household registration.

See (will update that thread with their response when I have more time):

Ask them to reciprocate and limit paying taxes and NHI to having household registration also!

Oh, but foreigners don’t pay taxes in Taiwan anyway (and a national without HHR is basically like a foreigner for most administrative purposes!)

(They told me that they value my suggestion and will explore further expanding the program to more participants. They also wish me good health :innocent:)

So many of the recent health initiatives omit permanent residents. Here are four off the top of my head:

$50 NTD voucher per week for 8k steps a day (this thread)

Taipei U-Sport vouchers (臺北樂運動)

U-Walk (健康萬步走)

2026 $500 sports lottery (2026 運動幣)

I guess these initiatives are to increase life expectancy and lower health bills late in life.

Watch out, next thing you know there may be a proposal from some bright eyed ethnonationalist to get us kicked off NHI!
