Hi All!
This is my first post here, so if I break any rules or norms, please be gentle with me.
I am thinking about movie to Taoyuan county to teach English. I really want to move there just to get a nice change of scenery and to use my degree ( I presently work a minimum wage job in the U.S.)
Can anyone tell me where I can find more information about shipping my car to Taiwan if I decided to move there?
A movie in Taoyuan county about English teachers could be a winner, I see a big market for it and no matter what the naysayers say I say to go for it.
BTW, they have classic style pick-up trucks here so I’d say leave your pick-up truck in BFV and get one here instead. You can choose extra dirt, extra rust, extra dent as options, the choice is yours.
This has been brought up in other threads but the costs to import a vehicle is really high. In addition I think there needs to be some significant emissions mods done to pass the initial inspection test and some have had problems passing the test. On top of that it’s most English teachers can’t afford to buy/maintain a compact car much less import and maintain a larger vehicle.
Taiwan is also an awful country to drive a F150 sized pickup truck in.
Put your pickup in storage. Live here for a year and decide if you can actually afford a vehicle in Taiwan before importing.
your looking at a US$15000-$30000 tariff when taxes, duties and freight are tallied. Probably not something your minimum wage budget can handle…
On the other hand, I have seen working condition used versions of these for as low as US$330

This probably falls under moving your household which at least from Taiwan to Europe is tax free.
I don’t know the other way around though.
The truck should be older than 6 month. You need prove for when it was purchased.etc.
Best would be to ask the Taiwan office near your home.
