I guess this could go into the travel section but since i have a young kid, i thought i’d put it here. Mod’s feel free to move it.
The wife, I and our young son (1 year old now) and my parents want to have a holiday in a baby friendly resort somewhere in Asia (Malaysia, Thailand or Singapore) next February.
It would be nice if it was near some culture, so we could have day trips, but otherwise a pool, watersports and reasonable price are our only requirements.
Thanks
The Club Med in Ishigaki is pretty awesome – not super cheap but there’s great programs for kids, lots of cool sports stuff (windsurfing lessons, tennis, mountain biking, etc.) plus all the food and nearly all the drinks are included.
Someone posted this link on parentpages a long time ago and it was so useful I’ve kept it bookmarked.

Child friendly resorts in Asia
A guide to Asian child-friendly resorts and family holidays where your toddlers won’t come a-cropper crossing a four-lane highway to get to the beach.
Thanks for your help i’ll be sure to check those out.
Piwa, thanks for that link, very useful
Can’t offer info on specific resorts as I haven’t yet made it there myself, but after checking around for scuba classes in Thailand it seems Koh Lak & the Similan islands on the west coast are supposed to be quieter & family friendly. It’s about an hour north of Phuket.
The guys at Wicked Diving specifically mention that it’s not the place to go if you’re looking for drunken beach parties, etc, but it is a quiet, friendly beach town w/great diving & snorkeling, plus hikes & temples nearby. They suggest a few places HERE
