Recently my family moved to Taiwan, so they have to wait 6 month for their NHI insurance. What is the best solution to cover this period? May I find a local privat insurance nearby or choose one of the international companies? May we survive without any privat insurance?
You can take a gamble on not having insurance, really depends on your acceptance of risk and your families general health. “Normal” doctors visits for fevers, sore throats and that type of things are quite inexpensive and, depending on your salary level, may be cheaper than paying NHI!. The gamble of course is if something more serious happens, say a traffic accident. Check with your employer, many have group insurance for employees which reduces the gamble somewhat.
