I’m planning to bring my own phone and sign up for the phone service at the airport when I get there. I wont call a lot. Just need data mainly. Does anyone have recommendation on which one is better? Heard they offer similar packages. I won’t stay in Taiwan for long so I just need prepaid plan. Can someone also recommend the type of prepaid plan?

I use both currently. Zhonghua is better if you are traveling to some remote spots, since they used to be the govt monopoly their service is much more robust. FarEasTone is also good but not quite so strong , but if you are staying in the city, you wont notice much difference at all.
Many of the plans available through the network providers are all relatively the same. However, I have noticed that Zhong Hua does get better reception in more remote places. My gf uses Taiwan Mobile and whenever we’re in the mtns, I get service and she doesnt.
There are a few words that are auto changed whenever you type it including Keelung. The parenthesis of (Jilong) will show up after the word. If you quote my post, you’ll notice (Jilong) is not in my typed text.
I heard its better to get the package at the airport as they have better deal and more convenient since they’re used to foreigners. Is that true?
