Firearms licence/shooting practice in Taiwan/Taoyuan

As a foreigner is there a place where I can get a firearms licence/shooting target practice in Taiwan (Taoyuan)?

Please let me know.

There are shooting range throughout Taiwan, as to where Iā€™m not so sure.

As for license to keep firearms at home, I have no idea how to get that.

I suspect it could be similar to Germany where owned firearms are stored at the shooting range.

That law just deals with requirement for sporting facilities. Basically groups sanctioned by IOC or other international sporting bodies, or schools, etc. (as military training courses that counts towards service requirement also has target shooting component as well).

There is also a law which allows for civilians to own defensive firearm, I think the limit is 1 firearm of each type (rifle and pistol) and 50 rounds for each firearm. As to the specific of how to apply or the criteria, Iā€™m not so sure about this. There are probably storage requirements like a proper gun safe and ammo has to be stored separately from the gun.

But in general firearms are not necessary in Taiwan, as thereā€™s really no place to hunt thatā€™s legal for non aboriginal Taiwanese, and crime isnā€™t high enough that you need a firearm to defend yourself with.

ah, that isnā€™t the case, and I just double checked. Back when I was shooting in Germany, people had to store their weapons at home, as the police were more afraid of the SchĆ¼tzenverein (shooting range / hunting club) being raided and the weapons stolen for terrorist activities. If you were a gun owner you had to be a member of a SchĆ¼tzenverein and show up regularly so other gun owners could see if you were all there mentally. In 2009 they changed the law, so that the police comes and inspects your gun storage methods at home.

I thought firearms were to be stored at the police station. And when you wanted to use it, you needed to go there to check out your firearm.

Nope. Stored at home. Germany is awash with guns, Iā€™m surprised we donā€™t have more shootings.

I was referring to Taiwan, not Germany.

Maybe because itā€™s not the access to guns that causes shooting, but just people who are psychologically messed up?

Switzerland is awash with guns but they donā€™t have nearly as much shootings as the US, Czech Republic is awash with guns as well.

which one? in the following law I didnā€™t see the possibility that civilians can own a firearm, so linked the above law.

About the Self-defense Guns Control Act, here is an explanation:

If a guy can go by whatā€™s offered by Costco Taiwan, it would seem youā€™re right. I donā€™t think these Winchester gun safes are the best option for storing anything but firearms at home. I def did a double take the first time I saw this for sale here.

A lot of Taiwanese also donā€™t know what these safes are intended for as well. I asked a worker if they know what the safe is for and they thought to store a lot of valuables. I said how many people have enough valuables to require a safe that big? I told them that theyā€™re intended for guns and they were surprised. Especially I showed them that Winchester makes guns.
