Sounds like one of those 72 virgin tales, if you ask me…
I don’t mean those kinds of beavers, you dirty minded so-and-so. I meant the kind of beavers that get all wet.
Secret beavers can be nice.
If you want to shoot some pellet or paint ball guns you can try the Jhong Jheng sports center behing the old KMT headquarters. It’s on the 6th floor. They also have a nice set up for Archery too.
I agree with Wookiee 100%. The people here can’t even drive or ride scooters/motorcycles let alone ride bicycles/tricycles properly here. Shudder to think, horror of all horrors if they ever handle real firearms. Trepidacious prospect!
Even in my native South Africa, there were a fair share of unsafe firearm owners/users when I went to the shooting range for some practice & South Africans have a long tradition of firearm ownership, so you can imagine the level of concern I have if the general populace here would be allowed to handle them with no heritage of shooting, at least within the last generation or two.
And the same goes for big motorbikes in Taiwan.
Darwinian selection in action.
To whom do you refer?
Darwinian selection being verifiably observed for the first time ever,do you mean?
Hengchun is a town near Kenting (southern Taiwan). On the main road into Hengchun you can see a large sign with a shotgun. Follow the arrows along a small road into the hills and you’ll meet a shooting range.
Shoot ten shells for NT$ 500.
Sounds like fun! What type of shotguns do they have?
probably wimpy ass 410 or 20 gauge at most… Taiwanese is squeamish around firearms, since they think only he privileged (police, military) are allowed to use them. In the military they give us this AR-15 looking thing that has about as much recoil as an airsoft gun… I mean it kills but man they got no kick… no one in Taiwan ever fired a 7mm magnum and they don’t know the meaning of bruise after 20 shots.
I want 12 gauge, like my Mossberg pump-action back in South Africa!
I want a plasma rifle in 40 watt range…
I wouldn’t venture on a firing range here. Until the general population starts driving responsibly I won’t go near any area where regular folks are handling firearms. :loco:
If someone can ride a scooter on the side of the road against oncoming traffic, or back up a hundred meters on the freeway to get on an off-ramp, or…:fume:… with no one even raising a finger in protest, then I can just see someone pointing a loaded shotgun at my chest and thinking I’m overreacting because his finger isn’t on the trigger. No way Jose!
THAT! was funny :bravo:
There should be a classic take the piss out of Taiwan thread.

Funny but all true! But there again, I wonder how funny it would be if someone actually got hurt!
They hold two shells, side by side. The double barrel hinges on the butt and opens to reload after each shot (s).

Any idea what make of shotguns they are and what guage?

I dunno, but this weekend I’m going to Kenting, so I can pass by that place. But I don’t know how to say “gauge” in Chinese.
So is there anywhere in Taipei where the public can partake?

Hunting on Formosa. The Atayal is master of the long-arm.
Last weekend I went to the clay shooting range in Kenting, and was very pleasantly surprised. The place is well-equipped, and staffed by courteous guys who know what they’re doing. I saw them coaching a few first-timers and there was never a moment of irresponsibility. When they figured out I knew what I was doing, I was still monitored but not crowded, if you know what I mean. It’s just pricey though - as a walk-on you pay NT$500 for 10 rounds. I guess if you actually join the club it will be cheaper.
Shotguns they have are 12-gauge over-under Beretta Skeet or Sporting guns. All in excellent condition.

And the range website is here: shootingrange.com.tw/
I have seen signs for a similar range in or around Linkou, I aim to find it and check it out soon.
Anyone interested in Airsoft (BB gun) skirmishing is also welcome to contact me. We get together every Saturday morning at varios venues.
