I came across this new provider that gives a free data eSim.
Just recently one is able to register it from Taiwan.

Yes, it is available in Taiwan.
Please set APN (Access Point Names) → firsty.movedata.mobi

They give you free data for an hour, once it is used up one gets a notification to watch an ad for additional data. It is enough for messaging. 300 Kbit/s

This data eSim works in Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea, Europe, and other countries.

I tested it on my Pixel phone and I can register and activate it from Taiwan. Obviously one needs a phone that does support eSim’s.

Update:
I can register and activate it. The eSim connects to ChungHwa’s network, but currently there is no internet. I will ask their support for more info.

How much data at what speed, or just for simple LINE/Whatsapp, etc.?

Free data is supposed to be at 300 Kbit/s. Hotspot is allowed.
Need to open the app and watch an ad every hour to continue service.

After registration one gets 100MB of fast data, which is available for purchase in 2GB chunks, if one needs faster internet.

I tried to use it last week and it would not work. It would not connect to any mobile network.
After contacting support they gave me a new eSim. Now it connects to FarEastone network instead of ChungHwa.
