Flickr.com

I am considering paying for a full membership with flickr.com, and thought I’d ask the forumosa community for some opinions. I just want to post lots of my photos so I can let my family and friends check them out.

Is flickr a good choice, or is there something that is better? It would be nice to use something free, but I don’t want to be too limited.

Thanks!

I paid for an account and I like it. The site is much prettier to look at than any of the others I’ve seen and uploading, captions, etc., seem easier to use. There’s also all kinds of other goodies you can get – I’m thinking of selecting a bunch of photos to be printed in a glossy large-format book as a gift for family back home. Costs like an additional US$25 for that.
It can get addictive though.

Yeah, I paid too. It has a number of options availible for uploading. It’s easy to edit photos once their online. Yes, one more vote for flickr from me.

Yep, I paid, and I like it too. Thumbs up from me!

I use Flickr… The full membership is tuff to beat. Definitely a good choice.

I really like it. Not so sure it’ll stay as cool once Yahoo really starts to fiddle with it. And it’s a pain that they don’t allow hot linking to images. But danced a happy jig when I got my full membership.

Thanks for all the input, everyone seems to like it. I went ahead and bought the membership, and I’m happy I did. I really like the interface, everything seems simple and visually pleasing.

Great! Now you can join [url=Forumosa's got Flickr! Flickr group[/url]!

Flickr now has video!

I just hope flickr can come up with a system that excludes video content for those users who don’t want it to be part of their user experience.

A couple of flickr videos.
This one is useful.
This one seems to capture the “long photo” idea.
Apparently, even if you don’t click on a video, it preloads. If you’re on a slow connection this maybe a major pain.

Well it seems flickr photostreams have suddenly become photo&videostreams. I think it is a mistake. Hopefully flickr will have the good sense split the content into separate streams.

The default setting is to automatically play the video, but you can change it. Just go to flickr.com/account/prefs/aut … om=privacy

Thanks wix. I went straight to that page and unticked the box. I bet millions of others will be doing the same. Impudent bastards, though, to make it load by default.

I just wrote a postabout this issue on my website.
