Forumosa & Reach to Teach are joining forces this August for a very special happy hour! First of all, it’s on a Saturday night, so no one has to worry about getting up for work the next morning. Second of all, it’s at the Taiwan Beer Bar, certainly one of Taipei’s most economical bars, so you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank for a good night out. Third, we’re going to be mixing it up with Reach to Teach, a bunch of fun-loving teachers. And lastly, since it’s going to be hot, and since we’re drinking Taiwan beer, we’re going with a taike theme. (Click here for a more in-depth take on taike), but for to keep it short and sweet, Taike means dress casual - local style. Flip flops, tank tops, mini skirts are all good…
I will probably bring along a box of binlang and indulge in what has become my once-or-twice a year habit.
The Taiwan Beer Bar is located on Bade Road Section 2, No.85, Taipei. See you there!
All the food is marinated in alcohol. The salmon marinated in Kaoliang is so strong that I got a buzz eating that alone!
The sausages are your best bet, soaked in beer.
We used to take a baguette and a bottle of ketchup.
The draft gold medal beer is without a doubt, the best and cheapest in Taiwan.
My sessions always started from 12 noon onwards.
Well I tried to go. Got the MRT to Zhongxiao Xinsheng. Couldn’t resist poking my head into a few computer stores and promptly got turned around and walked the wrong way. Ended up walking for 1hr 15 mins all the way up to Nanjing E Rd, then looped back and ended up at Shandao Temple station. Gave up.
I looked at a map today to see where I’d gone wrong (forgot to take a map with me last night). It turns out that I’d crossed Bade Rd, but there weren’t any street signs that I could see when crossing so I kept walking the wrong way.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to captivate you for so long. Happens all the time…
It was a pretty hidden place…I guess I walked past it on the opposite side of the road, then saw the entrance to 346 or whatever it is, another bar next to the Beer Garden.
And I also had fun, despite seeing Frost lick his leg hair.
I was looking forward to seeing some reviews of the place and the party.
I think I would like to visit this place, Taiwan Beer Gardens, and was very interested in seeing the post-HH comments about it.
Are you kidding? I think that was the best venue we’ve had yet. Spacious outdoor seating and massively cheap beer. Let’s have all the happy hours there.
Yep, hidden behind a hundred metre fence constructed of green-lit beer kegs and giant Taiwan beer bottles.
They added that fence of kegs about 2 months ago since the people that live across the street kept complaining about the noise. It was like clockwork, 10 minutes after closing the police would come by to tell everyone to be quiet.
yea, good times (besides a little episode with the folks from CAPT).
unfortunately, didn’t get to drink as much as i would have liked since i had to drive.
