Forumosa is fast, but how?

No doubt, everyone has noticed that Forumosa has speeded up considerably in the past few days. That’s great, and I’m sure we’re all appreciative, but as a devout geek, I can’t go to sleep tonight without knowing exactly:

How as it done? New server? New ISP? Inquiring minds want to know.

Robert

Forget about RAM, the primary reason behind how this website got faster is the “clock-speed”

I made the boneheaded mistake of initially ordering the AMD Athlon 2100 Processor, with 1GB Memory – dubbed “Power”. Clearly a misnomer in our case, even though this represented 4x the amount of RAM over what we were using over at DreamHost (New Moon Server – btw, it seems they have since updated their server to 512MB, switched from a Celeron to a P4, and dropped their price)

Now, we’re using Serverbeach’s Power 2600 – same amount of RAM, but a faster Athlon chip

Hmmpf, 500 extra Gigacycles… I live and learn
