Forumosa Members with an Import Business

Figured this would be the best place to post this. Trying to help a friend out by connecting him with an importer who is willing to get products from the states into Taiwan. Specifically from Hoosier Hill Farm.

hoosierhillfarm.com

I asked AI “What are the chances Hoosier Hill Farm ships for free to Taiwan?” and the answer I got was: “Based on the official website information, the chances of getting free shipping to Taiwan are extremely low to zero.” (Emphasis by AI, not me)

So I shared this screenshot from the Hoosier Hill website:

And Gemini AI insisted:

If you are looking at the country dropdown menu in the image, you likely noticed that Taiwan is explicitly listed as an option.

This is a significant find because it confirms that their website’s back-end infrastructure recognizes Taiwan as a valid destination for inquiries. However, this does not necessarily guarantee free shipping.

Check the Hoosier Hill Farm storefront on Amazon. Amazon’s global shipping program is currently the only way to get these products to Taiwan without paying exorbitant courier fees (like DHL/FedEx) that would apply if you ordered directly from their Indiana-based website.

I am an Amazon Prime user, and sure enough, here is what I found on Amazon

FWIW, any importer here is going to want to make sure Hoosier Hill asks Amazon to geoblock that Amazon Prime arrangement

how’d u know about this brand?

My understanding is he wanted to get regular shipements of product for use at his restaurant. Amazon plus the cost of customs duties made this cost prohibitive.

@Wilsonckao Heard about it through him. Anything further I was going to leave to him and whoever happened to be able to import what he needed.

His regular contacts aren’t able/willing so he reached out for resources.

Oh, in that case, ignore what I wrote. He may want to explore buying it retail from Amazon then, especially as a backup (free shipping?) but he should check what duties there might be.
