Frank's RedHot

Okay, so there was a topic about this a while back apparently, but all of the answers in it are no longer applicable for whatever reason. (Websites are down, Costco doesn’t sell it anymore).

But seriously, I need it. Does anyone know where I might find some? I’ll buy gallons and gallons wherever I can.

 The Frank’s. That was the FIRST thing I bought when I got back on US soil.

You might try contacting this distributor. They currently have no retail outlets. I contacted the Frank’s web site and they gave me this information for a Taiwan distributor. Emporium Corporation, 2F, No 614, Linsen N. Rd., Taipei 104, Taiwan (ROC). Contact: Bruce Fu,
Tel: 011-886-2-2591-7807.
Fax: o11-886-2-2595-2951

So a wiener distributor out of the combat zone, eh? Scarcely a surprise.

Er…it’s hot sauce

Oh god, that’s somehow far worse.

I know that Landis has shut down the e-store but last time we talked, he had a nice variety of hot sauces. I don’t know if Franks was on his shelf but I sure got a nice Cajun variety. I don’t think you would have to worry about an expiry date on this stuff.

No, franks is basically vinegar and cayenne peppers, neither of which go bad. If I could find some in an ancient taiwanese pyramid I’d make stir-fry with it tonight.

And the first thing I’m buying when I’m back on US soil is going to be a Buffalo Chicken Pizza from Pizza Hut. Stuffed crust. No shrimp. And if a kernel of corn touches that pizza there will be hell to pay I say!

Has anyone seen this hot sauce around? I would love to find it. I haven’t checked Costco yet though.

As a matter of fact, you can find it right here.
Try spelling it “Franks’” and not “Fank’s” though.

Your link only goes to the search page, y’eejit! (or is that what you intended?)

The only useful thread I see when I use the search is this: [Forumosa - Taiwan's largest and most active Taiwan-oriented global online community in English … ank%5C%27s](Frank's RedHot but there is no actual answer about where to buy the sauce there.

Fanks for nuthin’!

Seems to me that tjc provided information on the distributor. I’ve often found products by calling the distributor, who would then either ship to me direct, or give me contact info for retailers.

Anyway, as with all food-related searches, this gets moved to Food.

Hahah oops.

Yes.
As Dragonbones pointed out, there’s information about the distributer.

Erm, but, you know, I had to complain about something so that I could say “fanks for nuthin’.” (not that anyone noticed that genius bit of comedy, like.
(dunno why I bother)

Has anyone tried calling this guy to find out an answer? If so does he speak English?

So I’ve tried calling and e-mailing this guy and I’m pretty sure they’re closed down. I sent a message to Frank’s over two months ago and still haven’t gotten a reply. I just gave up and had my parents send me a few bottles, but it would still be nice to find a place.

I have tried to find a replacement for Frank’s but no luck. I did find a great cooking hot sauce called Tropical Chili Sauce. You can find it almost anywhere (Carrefour for sure). It’s thick like ketchup, but still has a great taste. It’s a very nice garlic/sweet/hot taste and it’s perfect for making fajita style chicken. I cut up a couple chicken breasts into cubes, salt/pepper, add some onion/red peppers/green peppers and wait for the chicken to cook before I add the Tropical sauce. I cook it a littler longer and when I’m done I have a fantastic Mexican style dinner for my girlfriend and I.

After a full year in Taiwan I’ve come to a better understanding of how to get things.

The easiest way to get Franks Red Hot is to just have someone from home send it to you. I have my parents send me two big bottles every couple months. But if you don’t have a support line back home that’s willing to pay that price then you’ll have to go with plan B.

Plan B - Find a western restaurant that serves hot wings and ask them what kind of sauce they use. Some restaurants like “The Door” (a Diner copy cat in Sanxia) make their wings with Franks and order it from a supplier in giant jugs. If you ask them nicely you could probably buy a jug off them.

P.S. anyone who lives in Sanxia should go to the Door, it’s a great place.

I have a food supplier order form from a local distributor that advertises franks. The problem is the price, 320 nt for 9 oz. bottle, really high. I’ll buy a few bottles for b-day gifts or a rare treat, but not as a staple condiment. I could probably pick up some extra if anyone was interested.
