Frank’s newest branch of Frank’s Texas BBQ is open and ready for business in Da-Xi, Taoyuan County. Here are some pictures and the specific details of Frank’s Da-Xi branch of Frank’s Texas BBQ. I also included a copy of his latest menu. Enjoy.

A cut and paste’able address, something maybe in Pinyin, would be helpful for those of us not proficient enough in the loca’l language but still want some Texas BBQ!

I’ll do that one better…

Assuming you have a car, and are coming from Taipei, take the No 3 freeway south (bei 2 gau) and take the exit marked 112 Cihu/Tashi/Chungli/Pingzhen at km marker 62. Turn left at the bottom of the offramp and take this road until it T’s about 800meters in front. Turn left and follow this road until it ends approx 2km and then turn right. You should be going down a hill at this point (careful, there is a very active speed camera about half way down) and will reach an intersection with a dizzying set of signs…Just ignore the temptation to turn left and stay straight. You’ll then go over the river bridge about 1.5 km later and start to climb a gradual hill toward the dam. The place is almost exactly 1km past the bridge on your right hand side.

Enjoy.

Edit: After driving out there, I realized that the GPS coordinates given (and the last bit of my directions) are incorrect. The correct GPS coordinates are: 24’51’45"95 by 121’16’54.50"E…Which means an extra 300meters up the road and on the opposite side. Easy signage to spot.

Here’s a Google Earth Picture to go with MJB’s corrected GPS Coordinates.

Cool. I am going to try to drop by this week. Discovered that the Taipei County bike paths go within a few km of the place. Rode them Friday night almost to Huiling Bridge but didn’t know where I was until I looked on Google maps later. A steak will make for a nice lunch after the 45km cycle from Bitan (since it’s 45km back too).

I was pretty excited to see a Texas BBQ in Taiwan. I called my GF over to show her the thread here on Forumosa, she looked at it for 3 seconds and said “Oh yeah, I know who that guy is. He’s on the local news all the time, something about his restaurants being divided up in a divorce…yeah Frank is pretty famous here.”

Small world this Taiwan, aye?

With the maps and the coordinates and the directions and the pictures I feel like I’ve already been there.
