Btw My amateur modern novel should be thoroughly half-baked in a fortnight or so. I’ve heard it’s customary for hack writers to foist their home productions on their mothers or girlfriends, but I’ve never had one. A girlfriend, I mean. A mother I did have, once, but haven’t seen her since the day she dropped me in the Salvation Army bin. Maybe you could be my girlfriend? Or mother? Mwah.

I think things have changed. Access to porn is now completely different than before. Young men now have unlimited access to get instant gratification from their phones now. It’s really hard if you’re watching porn with all our fantasies with unlimited amount of different women to see 1 single woman in a relationship to satisfy your sexual desires and dopamine hit.
“Free beer” has always sounded ambiguous to me. Beer can also be a victim of repression (just sayin’).

The real reason some people concoct reasons why it’s necessary to criminalize both porn and prostitution is because they threaten women’s sexual power over men.
There was a long article about this in Vice or something. Tldr: the big players make money anyway, and the, uh… what would be called “mom and pop shops” in other industries basically get smothered. It’s not like we haven’t read this book before.

That’s a feline thing, not just a lion thing.
I understand the point, but the “fantasy” component is key here. It is not necessary for a single human being to fulfill all of a person’s fantasies - that is why they are fantasies. Some of them, sure. But just because a potential partner can’t/won’t do that doesn’t really matter, unless it is somehow the key to a person’s sexual being (gender preference, etc.), and is a deal breaker ultimately.
My key point does not change. Fantasy (porn) does not need to be the same as a real life person - it shouldn’t be. Why does it matter what a person watches in their own time, as long as it is between consenting adults? And I think the modern romantic concept that a single person can fulfill every single thing that another person needs is unhealthy. Not just in a sexual manner either. I think that we put waaaay too much pressure on our romantic partners to be too much, when many of the things we need should be found elsewhere (this is not in any way advocating cheating; this is more talking about non-romantic /platonic relationships of various types).
This is just my opinion after 20+ years of marriage, but take it as you will.

But when real life with a real woman doesn’t stimulate you the same? It’s a problem and it’s been a common theme among young men now. It’s not about separating real life and fantasy, it’s when fantasy stimulates you more.
If you listen carefully to those who would ban porn it seems to be only heterosexual porn that they would ban. Gay and lesbian porn? Not a problem.
My theory is that’s because gay men and lesbians aren’t driven by the biological need to land a mate who will support them and their offspring financially so porn isn’t an economic threat to them. Heterosexual porn though is in direct competition with men’s need for marriage so it’s “evil” and must be banned.
