I hate now that almost all credit card/debit card have easy card functions.
This is a problem because if you have multiple such cards in your wallet they will interfere with each other. My suggestion is put tin foil around your inner part of the wallet so that it will block cards that you are not using, and keep your actual easy card on the outside of it.
Today I got an SMS saying that they need a copy of my ARC front and back. Of course I gave my ARC to the rep while applying, so unsure what happened.
The SMS asks me to sign into taipeifubon.com.tw, which is not the main Fubon website so feels like a scam. I sign in and it say I’m unable to upload documents - I need to call their customer service line.
I call and press for English service, and it cuts me off after waiting for exactly 4 minutes.
Does it make any difference how someone applies for this one? Besides Costco stores, I assume it’s also possible to go into a Fubon branch or mail in the application? And possibly online? (Not sure about that last one - I just scanned the QR code in the last Costco pamphlet that came through and it seemed to direct to a promotional/application page, but everything was in Chinese and I didn’t spend much time looking at it.)
It seems like the Fubon reps in Costco aren’t being too annoying with foreigners? I just passed by the booth in the Zhonghe branch and the guy working there indicated that passport, ARC, and income tax statement would be sufficient?
Maybe see what happens if you don’t press the number for English service? It’s not like that usually makes any difference at all to who your call gets directed to.
I did the mail-in first and a few days later I got an SMS saying I wasn’t a member and my application was automatically canceled. So I went in-store and they quickly got my application done. He said the reason my mail-in had an issue was probably because my Costco membership was under my old ARC number. So after he finished my application I went to the service desk to update to my new ARC #.
Oh that’s a good point. I’m pretty sure I never updated my ARC number with Costco either. (I might not even have ever given them my previous ARC - I originally signed up using that record of ID number from immigration.)
I am defo up for complaining. Just don’t want to waste too much time doing it.
I am going to say
that I’m not providing one, that it’s against article 62 of the Immigration Act and article 7 of the Financial Consumer Protection Act (thanks @Mataiou!/andrew) and will be complaining to the FSC if they insist on it
