Anybody here tried to apply for a funeral grant for their deceased parent? How did it go if your parent was also a foreigner but you are on APRC in Taiwan? How long did the process take?
Also, do you still need to provide an additional proof that you are from the same household aside from the birth certificate?
Appreciate any related replies because I can’t find recent info online although the BLI has some requirements listed. I figured it would be helpful to know some actual experiences from foreigners who went through this. Thanks.
I claimed this successfully in 2024, I received around 150,000NTD, so well worth it. I received the payment around a month after I submitted all the correct documents
It was all done by post, but I did get a phone call from the government official that dealt with my case because I missed some steps with getting the death certificate authenticated. The person I spoke to was very helpful and made sure I did everything correct in order to revive the payment.
My home country is the UK. I remember that I had to submit an original copy of the death certificate which had been authenticated by the FCDO and by the TRO in London. All the postage was a big pain. It’s worth noting that you won’t get the death certificate back after you submit it to the authorities in Taiwan.
U saying even if your parent not in taiwan and not taiwanese. But since you on aprc or arc, when your parent die, you can get money from taiwan government???
Thanks for the info and glad to know you were able to do it. So sorry for your loss too. Did you need translated copies (from English to Traditional Chinese) of your authenticated docs and had them notarized in Taiwan?
