Get paid to live in Italy

I think higher, more close to 25%. Youth unemployment from ages 18-35 is almost half.

But it’s a huge problem in the south someone claims to be unemployed and work off the books. There’s a lot of resentment from northern Italy because it’s so common southerners evade taxes and claim the most benefits.

Sounds like Ireland thirty years ago.

Ireland just gets the dosh from the EU now instead of …just joking :upside_down_face:

I read Ireland and Cyprus are the easy migration destinations for those desiring English speaking countries.

Italian here, my family lives 2 hours from Molise. It’s an interesting experiment but ask yourself why they came to this. Also in that area don’t expect people to speak English.

Really, please forward ?:grinning: .After UK exit there won’t be many choices left in the EU.

Please please please no more bubble tea

I’m hoping to get work rebuilding Hadrian’s wall

Italy isn’t a great place to live as an expat trying to earn.

What’s with all these “get paid to live in Europe” or “buy a house for 1 euro” deal?

I mean they might as well not offer anything because it just looks like a scheme to get their overpaid contractor work.

Also Italian government isnt known for government efficiency. Taiwanese government is actually very efficient. For example in Italy package theft is such a problem few will ship anything to Italy because it gets lost 9 times out of 10. That is unless you use expensive next day delivery service with insurance.

Don’t think poor country = loose or welcoming immigration laws! Often the poorest country in the world have the most restrictive immigration laws (it’s often the reason why they are so poor). If anything rich countries tend to have looser immigration laws.

Italy is awesome to visit but to live … no thanks.

It would be great to have a country house there for holidays though.

“Taiwanese government is actually very efficient”.

Thanks for a good example of government success.

Maybe. But if the Taiwanese government started acting like the way they did in the 50s not much we can do about it. Everyone in Taiwan should be allowed to possess a T91 in case of incursions from either China.

Taiwan is the chill place it is because people don’t obsess over guns or feel the need to own them. Imagine if you suggested that to TW families in your neighborhood. They look at you puzzled and wonder if you’re ok.

Taiwan is chill because in the 1950s the government arrested, tortured, or murdered “enemies of the republic” and so anything to do with the military and police is very touchy subject politically. They don’t want a repeat of that. But there are Taiwanese who favor relaxed gun laws.

Taiwan has a second amendment but it involves conscription. Legally all Taiwanese of military age who finished military service is a reservist. Meaning if an incursion happens they will be recalled and armed.

This seems like you’re acknowledging that civilians that have experience with gun violence and/or violent clashes with government have valid reasons to want guns banned, or at least access to them restricted. I’m wondering why you can’t apply the same sentiment to American citizens.

It reminds me of a lot of TW expats who rail about socialism any time a dem politician brings up national health care but love their jian bao cards and use them all the time. There’s just this disconnect there.

maybe if we phrase things with “…like in TW, where guns are illegal for civilians and they enjoy safe streets” . or “…like in TW, where government controls health care and many expats live comfortable lives they couldn’t afford in the US because of it” they could put 2 + 2 together…? maybe?

i just realized this is off topic. just to tie it in, i’d live in Italy in a heartbeat. Especially Perugia. Or Roma.

I can’t speak Italian to start a small business there, so I pass.

Dammit we’ve been holding our breath for a year hoping you’d head over there.
