Good morning Taiwan!
I live already for a while in Taiwan and we are renting an apartment in central Taipei.
We are renting through an agency and never had direct contact with the owner.
The communication was always super friendly and good with this agency.
Yesterday a friend visited us with his little dog.
The agency told me that the apartment doesn’t allow me to have a dog(her words: building is a no pets building)
- seems like the doorman contacted the owner and told him, that a dog has been seen in the building. (Have seen some other people walk into the building with dogs as well)
I totally can understand that an owner could fordid the tenant to have a dog.
But I am wondering if they could also fordbid the tenant to have even visitors with dogs.
My friend is a lawyer in Taiwan and she said that this seems a bit unreasonable(but she is also not an expert in this field).
Does anyone of you has any experience with this? Does the owner have the right to say no to pets - even to visitors with dogs?
The contract is at the agency( I know - weird that I didn’t keep it ) and I would like to ask you guys before asking the agency to have a look into the contract.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance and have a great start into this sunny weekend
