Go-Karting in Hsinchu county

I’ve got a group of about 8 guys or so that are going to go Go-Karting in Junan this Sunday. It’s a nice ride and since it’s roughly between Taipei and Taichung…it’s a doable ride for almost anyone. And not a bad ride either if you follow the coast. The track is the fastest in Taiwan for go-karts…except for a very expensive track that MJB mentioned.

Well, if you are interested there is a map here: rks.idv.tw/index0201.asp

If you scroll down I give detailed directions in a later post.

Did you go? How was it?

The group I was going to go with are from Taipei, so due to the rain this morning we called it off. But the plan is still on for the first good weather Sunday.

I went with Kawasaki rider this Sunday past…umm The 1st of May. He was impressed by the speed. The G’s are enough to bruise and batter you. It’s the best course in Taiwan as far as I know. I’ve been to about 6 others.

what do you mean by “Gs”?..is that “G” for “Gangstas”?..

I think he was talking about the number of G-strings we blew off the pit girls at the track.

Yeah… this place is great fun for anyone.

Directions coming from Hsinchu or anywhere north of there:

Head over to the West Costal Highway (number 61) go south. (This road is very enjoyable and has little traffic. Alot of speed traps so stick to the speed limit. This trip takes a little under an hour from Jung-li, but would be a fun ride even for people from Taipei.)

South of Hsinchu you will come to a rest area on the right hand side with 3 very large flags and a parking area along the road…impossible to miss. Looking at a map I’m guessing this is the Chiding Resort Beach…but I could be wrong.

Continue on to the next big intersection with a 4-lane road with divider to the left. There will be signs saying that the #3(or maybe the 1) Highway entrance is to the left. Go left on that intersection over a small bridge that has gas stations on either side of it then take the first right which is the #13.

Continue along the #13 to the second 7-11 on the right hand side (about 4 minutes up the road). Turn right into the smaller street directly beside the 7-11.

This part is difficult because you are on small streets now…but you’re only 1 minute away from the track so ask for directions if you can. If not then follow the street beside the 7-11 to a right hand turn with a green sign with the word “small” in Chinese on it and an arrow pointing right. The sign says “small race track go this way” You probably will only recognize the word small. Anyway, you turn right onto that then the first right after that (which will also have a sign)…follow that to the end and then a quick left, right…then up a hill to the track.

So in brief…at the 2nd 7-11. Right, right, go straight…then left, right.

From the three big flags at the beach stop area…it’s only about another 5-10 minutes to the track.

If heading from the SOUTH (Taichung…etc.)
You could just head north on the Costal Highway until you reach the “3 FLAG” rest area. Then make a U-turn and follow the directions from there.

thanks a ton mordeth.
that was the best directions any one could have given.

how about the charges , do i need to know of anything special ?
will language be a big problem

Cost for 10 minutes is $200NT. They owner speaks a little English. Very friendly guy, he let us take our bikes for a spin on the track. Hey Mordeth, post some pics from our trip there.

Oh something important you need to know also WEAR PROPER SHOES. They won’t let you ride with sandals or slippers. They are strict on that rule. Anything with a closed toe should be fine (running shoes…etc.). Also you will sweat…alot…so wear light clothes…preferably shorts as well.

thanks guys
you people are wonderful

Here is a pic of the track…I’m on it, just goofing off.

If the weather is good tomorrow morning some of us are planning on going. If not…then most likely very soon we will try again. And I’ll go any Sunday if the weather is good…feel free to PM me. I can meet anyone and lead them there if they’d like…even if I need to back track a little.

Events thread which talks about going: forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtopi … 480#555480

I would like to go tomorrow, but I’m going to Nanliao’s Dragon Boat race. If you guys are going next week, count me in.

Me too. So are you a team mate or a oponent?

Team mates in go-karting or dragon boat racing? I’ll only be waving a flag today.

… there must be a lot more to that track than the picture you showed then… or they must be really fast gokarts… because last time i played around with gokarts, it was slow enough that i was getting bored and decided to just muck around having fun getting it sideways in every corner… and those long straights i see in that picture really don’t seem all that exciting…

Don’t let the straights disapoint you. I’ve heard only good things about this track and the karts they use. With a good bunch of guys, I’m sure there’s a good race to be had!..

Last time I went racing there I kept involuntarily yelling out “WOOHOO!!”. I was wearing a full face helmet and one of the times I yelled left me wincing in pain as my helmet trapped the “WOOHOO” in with me. Point I’m making is that it’s fun…and exciting.
