How about suggesting he get Charlie one of those hard plastic kiddie wading pools? I’ve seen people use those for dogs when the weathers hot. They actually get in and lay down to cool off. Also, how close is Charlie to a water tap? There are devices you can place on your tap so the dog can turn the tap on himself and drink. A bit expensive but might be worth a try. Thats what my sister did- hired a 13 yr. old to walk her dog everyday after school because she worked all day. If you present this to the owner in a way that he thinks he’ll look like an impressive pet owner, well, maybe he’ll go for it. Sometimes appealing to the ego works. Just a thought.
The owner has decided to give Charly up. So if you know of anyone interested in having a Golden Retriever (and will take better care of him) please let me know:)
I saw him a couple of times and didn’t talk about this matter at all anymore…just made sure that his waterbowl was full…and then this morning the owner stopped me and told me he is willing to give him up.
