What do people think about his frankness? Was it really necessary? I mean, heās a bloody sportsman, not a politician or priest. Sure, heās a ārole-modelā, but really? Why is he held accountable to the public? Itās a private matter between him and his family, and between him and his sponsors. Well, I think you said why: Because he is accountable to his sponsors. Public opinion influences which celebrities get advertising contracts. His appearing to be contrite may gain him favor with a segment of the public who may have been turned off him by his actions, and consequently gain him favor in keeping some of the sponsors he hasnāt already lost.

He should explain that the whole issue caused a lot of pain for his whole family and that since the media made a public issue out of this he is willing to make public the fact that he is going to try to make ammends to his family. He should point out that the media was responsible for a lot of the pain caused to his family and for that he is going to do his utmost to see that it is held accountable. He is going to attempt to discover who did what and for what purpose. He should point out that in this, certainly the most complex times ever facing humanity, the media is concentrating WAY too much time on issues such as his infidelity.
He is in a unique position to argue such points and he wonāt because:
He doesnāt have the intelligence.
He doesnāt have the courage.
He just wants the sponsors back.
Endorsements. Itās all about endorsements, and lack thereof.

I have to agree. Itās got to be about the sponsorships etc, because he certainly doesnāt need to justify or apologize to me for what he does or doesnāt do in the bedroom (or with whom). Iāve found the entire debacle to be terribly distasteful.

Anyway, too many cynics. I agree that heās ājustā an athlete and I agree heās surely disappointed with his loss of mega-millions in endorsements. But I feel he probably fessed up because he knows he has blown his personal and professional life very badly, heās probably a perfectly decent guy who was raised by good parents, and he feels shame that he acted so wrongly ā to his wife and children, most importantly. And I feel he probably regrets that (though he savors the memories of all the hussies he bonked) and wishes he could have a healthy, peaceful relationship with his beautiful wife and kids and a healthy, superstar golf career unfettered by all the rumors, accusations and turmoil. Perhaps Iām a little gullible, but I believe heās feeling sincere regret and remorse (and not just about money).
