I’m looking for good extra virgin olive oil and avacado oil. What I know, all extra virgin olive oil and avacado oil are not good quality. I’m eating them for better health. So, just want to make sure I’m eating the good ones. Otherwise, there’s no point.
Costco has them. I think they’re good (well, not sure about the avocado oil).
I wouldn’t get either at PX Mart or Showba/Xiao Bei, stuff like olive oil I get from Kirkland or Carrefour because they have more reason to check their supply chain

Is it Kirkland=Costco (or is it the city), your # on the end is berries from Costco, so not sure Costco is any better/different than PX Mart imports. I would check the brand of oil more.
Yes
Yeah, I know. I understand that that happened, and wanted to acknowledge it. But they still caught it.
If that’s possible. What are the specific oil brands you recommend? There are thousands for olive oil, that’s part of the problem!
Well in our city “Dollars” superstore would be my choice as have decent choices at moderate prices from the EU-Imported products. If you wanted very high end go the Cheese shop in the store/mall. They might even have the Kirkland brand as I see some Kirland products there…
Also the EU Pantry has many choices, if your in Southern Taiwan go visit and ask. Nice staff
A few years ago there were a bunch of news stories about how shady extra virgin olive oil is in general, with lots of adulteration - and Costco’s Kirkland came out as one of the most reliable brands. Unfortunately I’m having trouble finding any of those articles now, but this Reddit thread seems to sum things up:

Carrefour usually has this olive oil. The one on the left, the blue one, although sticker design and colour varies depending of the variety of olives used. Extremely high quality, the kind that you can drink.
Or use crusty bread to soak it up which is common in Italy and you will really get a taste of the olive oil like that.
But even extra virgin olive oil comes in different types, a ripe olive might yield more but a semi ripe will give a bit of a punch which if dipping the bread might be appreciated.
When Costco runs out of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which one do you get?
You don’t.
You go to another store for extra virgin.
Might be a bit of a broad brush, but taiwan gets caught enough with oils. If I see any Mandarin on the actual label, I normally pass. I want to see a foreign one imported and a Mandarin translated black and white sticker please
Otherwise it’s rebottled here which is where many problems arise…
Carrefour brand is Chinese, but I trust it’s bottled in Spain. They are huge in Spain and should not need to rely on Taiwanese companies, besides Carrefour Taiwan.
I’ve avoided olive oil simply because I see so many different brands under a huge variety of price, some being really cheap for what they are (like 2L bottles of it for around 300-ish?), some being really expensive (like over 500 for 100mL). I can’t tell which is which, and which one is really olive oils.
It’s a bit like honey, lots of corn syrup fakes out there.
Can check their catalogue. I like these guys cause they import their own and make it here. I’ve met the owners and seen the setup as well as know some of their suppliers. I’m not friends with them so can’t vouch for them, but so far it’s the one I trust the most if money allows.
