I’m not saying Google maps is wrong… maybe might be very accurate but in this case…
I left James Joyce Irish bar at 7:40am the other day?
It must have been a much better, or worse, night than I remember.

Was a whole thread necessary for this post? Have you considered starting a thread like “Tango’s Midlife Crisis” as a grab bag for this type of post? You know, put everything in one convenient location for easy reference.
Is it so apparent in a public space like this?

At least I know who I’m hanging out here with.
Slightly balding okay? okay.
By the way are you sitting behind me at the restaurant watching what I’m doing hey now I’m getting really paranoid (period).
I apparently have a google period (.) problem.

I’m WFH at the moment, so you can take a deep breath and relax. Wait a minute…who is that sitting behind you then? On second thought, maybe you should switch venues and see if he follows you.
I lost my bike again.
It’s not like the second time in 10 days or maybe it is.
Slightly balding okay? okay.
Ooooo, that’s much worse.
I lost my bike again.

Google Maps Timeline
Google will soon (starting Nov/Dec) delete everything but last 3 months of timeline.
Save it if want to keep it.
They supposedly sending messages to opt out, but not everyone receives a message and sometimes deletes it all anyway.
Yeah it’s a shitty move by Google. I love the timeline. Moving forward it’ll be on-device and only 90 days of data.
I made a way to view all of your historical timeline data:
View your Google Maps Timeline (Location History) data
It deletes … does it forget?
It remembers no more.

So is this like a one-time action to capture what’s available now but not going forward?
You can view all of your old data, and I plan to have it support the new data, but I haven’t opted into their new bs yet, so I’m not sure how it even works just yet. I think in the Maps app, going forward once opted in, you can export your device location data to a file. But you’d have to remember to do that every <90 days. Then my little script here (which, ChatGPT wrote most of…) it will load in all the relevant files.
