Google Translate New Format

I can no longer copy the pinyin portion of the translation on phone.

I hate it too. I am giving it 1 star. Not easy to erase everything.

Another tango42 topic saved!

You want my backed up APK?

So I’m not the only one who doesn’t like this “new feature.” I wonder what the point of taking away that function was?

The same reason why we often complain in Taiwan. Ignorance of niche people and uses.

I see they also did away with the translation feedback option, unless I just can’t find it

I’d like to suggest a more accurate translation (Buses don’t give change anymore?) but can’t find how to do it.

Deepl has better translation. Now their app isn’t worse except if offline anymore. The new Google translate really is a big degradation.

And like most Android (and I assume Apple as well) there is no option to roll back to the previous version. At least, I cant find one.

Googles don’t be evil is dead a long time. Since a couple of months I start feeling Microsoft has better morals.

Google has really gone by the wayside. They are only marginally better than Apple (you still have more choice). I want the pre 2011 Google back…

I’d like to try it. Which of these choices did you mean? Or are they all the same?

They don’t have an android app, you have to input a longer text and check the app spits out the same as the website:

O think the one by deepl SE is using deepl API.
If an app offers 100 languages it certainly doesn’t use deepl. Deepl clearly is the best translation available right now for any language they offer. Chinese isn’t as good as say German to English or French, Spanish… But it’s improving.
German to English or vice versa is so good I cannot bother translating myself. If just use deepl and look for errors that are too obvious. Some tiny errors I don’t care. The thing is that it’s using very good expressions.

it’s asking for full photo library access now when you want to translate from an image (rather than per photo previously)

I downloaded Deepl so on iPad and well uhhhh…

At least Google has traditional characters.

It still translates fine from traditional to English. If you need to traditional you can use Google translate simplified to traditional. That’s if you want to be understood. Else just use Google translate and have people guessing. It worst use line translate and people will certainly mis understand

I would very much like this, please. I find the new look to be unusable.

Trouble is, once you install it will decide to do an update I suspect.

Nahh. I have apps that I refuse to update.

They have not attempted to update.

It used to be possible to turn auto-updates off in Android, but it seems that they robbed us of that option some time back - just like MS have done unless you pay extra for Pro versions.

Are you sure? Mine doesn’t force me to upgrade apps.
