Back in April I managed to find a box of graham crackers somewhere, but I’ve not been able to find them again (except for chocolate-flavored ones at Jason’s, and they didn’t work out so well).
Can anyone point me to a store in Taipei that might sell either plain graham crackers that I can crush or graham cracker crumbs ready to make into crust?
Great, thanks! I make New York style cheesecake, but I can take these crusts out of the pans and use them in the cheesecake pan. Oh boy, a baking weekend.
I also had a problem with finding these for awhile. They are not called Graham Crackers here. Just go to any grocery store - Wellcome, Geant, etc. Look in the cracker section for “DIGESTIVE” crackers (in English and Chinese). They are in a red round package. 2-3 different sizes. They are a little more coursely ground than what westerners are used to and are a bit thicker, round too, but make really good crusts. Just have to crush them and use the crumbs like you would with the Western brands. For some easy quick cookies, try frosting a few with powdered sugar frosting. Quick and will satisfy that sweet craving in an instant.
Enjoy
There’s a shop in Chiayi that sells these famous square cookies that taste a lot like Graham Crackers. Very delicious. You could try calling and see if they deliver them to any stores in Taipei.
Last time I checked, they had both Graham crackers and pre-made crusts at Wellman’s in Tienmu; and crusts, including miniature ones, at a bakery supply in Nangang on Yanjiuyuan Rd
