CNN and the BBC are reporting the House is in lockdown after “gunfire was heard.”
U.S. Capitol Police say there are investigating reports of possible sounds of gunfire in the garage of the Rayburn Office Building, where members of the House have their offices. The entire Capitol complex has been locked down. Shots reportedly were heard by a single staff person, CNN Producer Ted Barrett reports. No injuries have been reported yet. Four ambulances have arrived at House office building, The Associated Press reports.

The Rayburn House Office Building was locked down for more than four hours today after a New Jersey congressman reported hearing the sound of gunfire in the building’s garage.
The noise apparently came from construction work being done in the building, Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said.
“There were some workers . . . in the area of the Rayburn garage, in the elevator area, and in doing their routine duties they made some sort of a noise that sounded like shots fired,” Schneider said. washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co … 10_pf.html[/quote]
Come on guys…lets get that tinfoil helmet on and pump up the conspiracy theories!
I thought that the article was a bit shallow – but it certainly raised some scary facts about the hijacking of the US Government by an extremist group of Neo-Jacobins, (NO- they are not neo-conservatives).
Jacobins were one of the first groups of misguided intellectuals in modern history which used regime change to depose a cruel dictatorship and usher in an even worse reign of terror in its stead.
Eventually they all got what they deserved but not before they caused the deaths of many innocent people.
Anyone who repeats their murderous, misguided follies is known as a “neo-Jacobin.”

Well stated “spook”!
I use that term for the extremists (most of them seem to be disciples of Leo Strauss…they could just as easily be referred to as Neo-Straussians) who have hijacked the executive branch of the US Government.
I borrow that term from a decent book, “America the Virtuous-The Crisis of Democracy and the Quest for Empire” written by Claes G. Ryn. Here is one link, from The American Conservative magazine: http://www.amconmag.com/2005_04_11/article2.html
Please recall that:
My point exactly!!! :fume: :fume: :fume:
I honestly feel that the Cheney/Bolton/Rumsfeld/Bush administration is Neo-Jacobin…they will force their views on all of us, in order to “save us”, even if it means killing us in the process, just as the original Jacobins did! (and as did other inheritors of Jacobinism such as Communists and Nazis).
To any of you who consider yourself to be an American Conservative, I would urge you to read some of the works of Pat Buchanan…he is respected among your ranks, and is a very strong critic of these Neo-Jacobin bastards. He recognizes that the G.O.P. is being used to further an agenda which is extremely harmful to American interests. So does William F. Buckley. So does Francis Fukayama, a former supporter of these bastards…
In the opinions of these strong conservative thinkers, and in the rather weak mind of yours-truly, these bastards are un-American and very harmful to the Republic. There may not be much time left. Perhaps an attack on Iran will mark the end of the American experiment? Many Yanks think that it is already too late. All in the name of flag waving…
