Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) - Kaohsiung's Recalled Mayor

Like a huge scandal that shows Tsai is selling everyone out, and the purpotrator being China would have the greatest effect.

Tsai is such a nerdy bureaucrat. There’s no dirt there. They attacked her PhD but it ended up benefiting her by reminding everybody she has a PhD from a top school lol.
Her challenger…pfffttt.

They’ll just keep posting news that Tsai is going to win by a landslide. It’ll keep the young people home. Old people vote in order to get out of the house, young people vote for passion.

I have checked the papers, I think the polls are the real deal. I don’t think Han has any chance. He’s supposed to be the mayor of kaohsiung and making a mess of that too.

I saw the prep for the 1010 celebrations. Taiwan ROC should be proud of what they have accomplished, a rich, well developed prosperous and democratic nation and jettison these Chinese puppets…

The Chinese puppets try to spread negativity when in fact Taiwan is doing pretty well all things considered. The economy here is stronger than it was even a few years ago…And the US is closer to Taiwan than it has been for many years. The Taiwan dollar is a rock (a low priced rock but a rock nevertheless ).

Go anywhere in Taiwan you can see it is developing nicely, improving year by year. There are tonnes of tourists visiting from all over. We don’t need Chinese tourists or at least their hundreds of tour buses jamming up everything .
Don’t buy into their false narratives.

Korean Fish can still win. His base is rock solid. All the government employees are voting for him, hoping that he will bring the 18% back and get the dogs off their back regarding investments. The overseas business people who are being bullied by Chinese interests will also vote for him, as well as overseas people who hold ROC passports but remain loyal to China either through brainwashing or business attachments. All these people have hukous and can vote. Too many Taiwanese cannot vote because they have to work that day and their hukous are down South.

Plus local surveys are as reliable as a Chinese brand cookie.

Finally, if Han loses, there will be riots again. Like 2000, but their rage will be against Tsai and the Presidency and anyone who stands in their way. It will get ugly. How ugly depends on whether China cashes its chips or not. And the Chinese have Crimea and now Kurds as samples of non intervention.

I don’t think all the govt folks will vote for him at all. Anyway the polls all say the same thing his support has been dropping steadily for months . Politicians don’t come back from those kinds of trends.

I also don’t think there’ll be any riots at all. He will go back to being the mayor and the PRC KMT axis will plan for the next election.

Tsai should stay straight on course promote optimism and pride here, both in Taiwan and the ROC.

(I agree with your comments about the messed up hukou system but it’s nothing new…)

I’ve noticed a big uptick in Western tourists. Saw loads at 華山 and other places. For a minute I thought was in Singapore or Japan or something…

I was in Hualien city and there were TONNES. For Taiwan it was the most I’ve seen in years. Serious potential to ramp up more tourism on the East coast. It was wonderful not being surrounded by our noisy and rough ‘friends’ from across the strait (they were there but in small groups instead ).

I agree Brian. I had a long frustrating conversation with a Han supporter last week. I gather there is a popular newpaper or tv channel that is telling a certain demographic that their Chinese-ness will help them ride the wave of Big Red wealth. This fellow was middle aged, works for the gov’t and thinks he’s being cheated. Big Red is going to make him rich. When I showed him all the financial indicators that had Taiwan ahead of China, he said it was fake information. Another lady wouldn’t believe that Taiwanese in the U.S. are ahead of “whites” in yearly salaries. They really think the west is keeping them down. Han will help them out of this hole they are being told they are in.

Amazing.
Taiwan is one of the richest countries in the world but they buy into this narrative. Or should I say swept up by GREED.

And government workers in Taiwan have NOTHING to complain about!

You should ask them what they would do if they allowed some cheaper Chinese to start competing or they contracted out their jobs to them lol.

Channel 52

CTI is the Korean Fish channel…The one that restaurants get money to play 24/7

I’m interested to understand how he thinks he’s being cheated?

This kind of article is what the PRC propaganda Dept is pumping out everyday.

The Uni couldn’t find her thesis. What’s the latest on that?

People I talk to who are truly wealthy and wise know what’s up. I have a buddy who is in manufacturing. Every time he comes back from over there he says he’s f’n thankful he didn’t follow the wave of the 90’s and relocate.

They found it I think. They said she was a grad officially.

Actually there was never any doubt about her PhD.

All the other channels are in it with Korean Fish news filling most of their time. No depth, no analysis, all cosmetic. Playing right into the narrative.

I mean, look at how they treat Korean wen he. It is as if they were interviewing the Beatles. Of course the nonsense is gone to his head and he feels free to spout stupidity. Same as Han.

«Oh Taiwan is hopeless…The elections are such a mess…The salaries are lowest, economy is the worst» That is what the press tv internet memes and Chinese spouses say and government employees say.

I also agree that this surveys give a false sense of security. China state officials have already say if Han wins, it is 8 years, like Ma. And that it will be the last election.

Yeah even the businessmen who made a lot of money there know the game is up , they’ve made their money and moving on or back to Taiwan. There’s a lot of investment coming into Taiwan right now. Not all good for the environment , but there’s no shortage of money at all .

I think the Made in Taiwan thing is actually quite ripe now for the picking. Actually it’s always been there but wasn’t marketed properly. There have been amazing niche industry Taiwanese manufactures here for decades, things you’d never expect e.g snowboard foot brackets, luxury yachts, etc…

Have we forgiven the nerd for the 一列一休 debacle?
