Happy birthday Frank

Hey, today is the anniversary of Frank Zappa’s birthday. We miss ya Frank

:notworthy:

What he said.

Trivia question. On which album and song does Taiwan get a mention?

“And for those of you in Taiwan who got Chumped, this chorus
Is for you: (rang tang Ding dong, I am the Japanese sandman…
Take eight…) Green rosetta”

Nice one Richardm,

Looks like we’re the only Zappa heads here.

Shame!

What is the ugliest part of your body?

probably the part where Suzi creams the cheese

:noway:

W…P…L… J…

name that drink and its ingredients !

(its a semi-trick question)

for extra points:

Who was Billy and what was Ethel and where was she located?

Too Easy; Billy the mountain

Wine port and lemon juice

But Ethel’s got me …richardm?

Limey…almost…1 out of 3.

Billy was a mountain
And Ethel was a tree growing off of his shoulder.

What is the ugliest part of your body?
Some say your nose
Some say you toes
But I think it’s your mind.
I think it’s your mind.
Your mind is the ugliest part of your body.
I think your mind is the ugliest part of your body.

whats so great about this frank zappa dude? i suppose he played guitar or something

Well, it’s a good good wine
It really makes me feel so fine, so fine, so fine, so fine

I went to the store when they open up the door
I said: “Please please please gimme some more”
White port & lemon juice, white port & lemon juice,
White port & lemon juice, ooh what a good to you!

You take the bottle, you take the can, shake it up fine
You get a good good wine.
White port & lemon juice, white port & lemon juice,
White port & lemon juice, ooh what a good to you!

The W is the white, the P is the port
The L is the lemon, the J is the juice
White port & lemon juice, white port & lemon juice,
White port & lemon juice, ooh what a good to you!

Well I feel so good, I feel so fine

And yes, it is drinkable…trust me on that.

I played Dancing Fool in Times Square for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2000.
Don’t know much about dancin’
That’s why I got this song
One of my legs is shorter than the other
‘N’ both my feet’s too long
‘Course now right along with ‘em
I got no natural rhythm
But I go dancin’ every night
Hopin’ one day I might get it right
But I can’t compete, ‘cause I’m a
Dancin’ fool, I’m a Dancin’ fool
The disco folks all dressed up
Like they’s fit to kill
I walk on in ‘n’ see ‘em there
Gonna give them all a thrill
When they see me comin’
They all steps aside
They has a fit while I commit
My social suicide,
I’m a Dancin’ fool, I’m a Dancin’ fool
The beat goes on ‘n’ I’m so wrong
The beat goes on ‘n’ I’m so wrong
The beat goes on ‘n’ I’m so wrong
The beat goes on ‘n’ I’m so wrong
The beat goes on ‘n’ I’m so wrong
I may be totally wrong, but I’m a
Dancin’ fool, I’m a dancin’ fool
Yowza, yowza, yowza
I got it all together now
With my very own disco clothes, hey!
My shirt’s half open, t’show you my chains
‘N’ the spoon for up my nose
I am really somethin’
That’s what you’d prob’ly say
So smoke your little smoke
Drink your little drink
While I dance the night away
I’m a Dancin’ fool, I’m a Dancin’ fool
I may be totally wrong, but I’m a
I may be totally wrong, but I’m a
I may be totally wrong, but I’m a
FOOL-uh!
Hey darlin’…can I buy ya a drink?
Lookin’ for Mister Goodbar? Here he is…
Wait a minute…I’ve got it…You’re an Italian!
Hah?Yer Jewish?
Love your nails…you must be a Libra…
Your place or mine?
mungacious. He was much more than just a"guitar player" check this out…Frank’s garage

Burnt Weeny, wish I’d ripped that to the MP3 player before leaving. What’s your favourite? So diffcult to pick out of the 50 odd I have…but I’d go for

New York, Guitar, Jazz from hell in no paticular order, but it’s so diffcult. What do you think?

L

 No prob Limey…close enough for rock n’ roll.

Another favorite is “America Drinks and Goes Home.” A great lounge tune send-up. But there is so much depth in Zappa’s repetoire (sp?) that it would take 50 to even come close.

Like they were nothing at all

Now I know just what it feels like
And just like I said I have no regrets

Sounds like somebody got their Christmas wish.

Tainan -Did you ever hear “Crusing with Ruben and the jets” That’s a weird album. I hated it when I first heard it. But it’s a grower, very short only 35 mins, but it is packed full of do-wop tunes. Proving that even as a young man Frank had a very special talent, he knew how music works.

Even though some of the latter albums I didn’t like “Civilization phase three” and “Everthing is healing nicely” I still wonder what he would be capable of now - producing new music in this bland corporate driven age?

To me he does deserve the title “composer” as he was so much more than a musician and guitar player. I saw the Ensemble Modern at the Albert Hall in London Play “the yellow shark”…Wow what a perfromance!

L

Limey-
Completely agree. Zappa was indeed worthy of the title “composer.”
He made full use of his talents in his compositions. I tend to think that he will grow in stature as time goes by.
