Happy New Year everyone from Taipei.
Where did you go? We took care of our Taipei 101 fireworks video like every New Years Day / Eve.
Happy New Year. We went to E-DA. Had dinner there and then a little looking around before going out to see the concert/fireworks display. Great show.
Happy New Year!
We had a wonderful pizza at Zoca first, then a short pit stop at my place for “warming up” with mulled wine before going to 101 for the fireworks.
They were shorter than last year, weren’t they?
@Hamletintaiwan: Nice video! Where did you take it?
Hamletintaiwan, great post of video thanks. I thought this was the best tall building fireworks display ever ever in the world, pure poetry of fireworks, the French firm that created it deserves big feliciations! I hope the outside world gets a peek at what Taipei 101 achieved last night.
Question, though: the English words on the TAIPEI 101 were “TIME FOR”… Time for what? What did they mean? Time for…shagging? Time for…cross-strait peace? Time for …more chinglish signs? Did the MOFA vet that tag line? TIME FOR? I didn’t get it.
if they meant TIME FOR TAIWAN, which is the adver line they use on CNN ads and TIME magazine ads, they left the TAIWAN out…so who was in CHARGE?
Much better if the logo on 101 had said “Time for Taiwan”…A wasted opportunity. At least that damn Korean firm Samsung didn’t get the space, those rascally kimchi eaters trying to buy an ad in Taiwan, how could they, here in the land of hTC, the Beijing loving HTC firm.
Happy new year!
The “Taiwan” was on the other side of the building, on TV you could see it.
Happy New Year everyone! We had a great day with friends in the mountains.

specifically it said Time for Taiwan 旅行
Was up at the top of Elephant Mountain…pretty spectacular view! Quite impressed. Jam packed to the rafters though…couldnt move for folk but i was fine sitting on one of the giant boulders Bit chilly though even for a hardened scot like myself
Happy new Year :discodance:
Though the real celebrations are CNY this Feb. Most taiwanese/chines i’ve met dont really celebrate either christmas or new year.
Happy New Year! Great fireworks at the 101! This was the first time I saw them from a rooftop in Taipei.
According to the Taipei Times article: taipeitimes.com/News/front/a … 2003551463
This was a “choreographed adaptation of The Firebird” (easy to match with the Finale of The Firebird I think).
3F. Dinner of prime rib, roasted with a salt cap, baked potatoes, and fresh corn. We gathered in a toasty warm living room, had dinner, sang some songs, then watched 101 fire works. Then most of us went to the roof to watch the local fireworks and freeze. I ate enough that I couldn’t move. Today, we ate prime rib sandwiches with aus ju. The ribs and veggies are boiling away for a solid beef stew and cornbread dinner.
Bottom line, 3F. Lots of food, friends and fireworks.
Kaohsiung is the place to be! awesome fireworks and concert.
I had a chill night. Seafood place for dinner, cocktails at a new lounge near ReNai circle, friends roof for fireworks, got engaged, drank way too much. NIce. :discodance:
Congrats on the engagement and auspicious new beginnings.
Congratulations!
