Or the best? Logical extension of their small-wheeled motorcycles, I suppose.
The mechanicals are apparently conventional fan-cooled, automatic transmission scooter stuff (though there’s apparently a radiator as well?) but it has a “delta box” motorcycle-style frame, like a miniature FZR. It seems very small.
Probably been out for a while, but I havn’t noticed one before, and probably wouldn’t have noticed this one if the rider hadn’t flipped up the “fuel tank” top (which is fake) to store his helmet inside.
Couldn’t see a model name/number on it. Suppose it’ll appeal to height challenged posers, but it might really handle better than a conventional scooter
Yeah they have been around for awhile. I know two people that have them here (one is a woman.) They are garbage, basically a scooter that rides like a motorcycle. I don’t know what demographic Hartford was going for. Yuck! CPI also makes a similar version but it isn’t a mini bike like the Hartford is.
Its not at all clear to me why that would be a bad thing.
IF motorcycles ride better than scooters (which seems to be the recieved opinion, at least among motorcyclists, for whatever that’s worth) and IF scooters (with automatic transmission) are easier to ride, which is the recieved opinion among just about everybody, for whatever that’s worth, then it might be best of both worlds for a lot of people.
You couldn’t sell it to me, because its new, and you couldn’t sell it to real bikers because…well, they’re real bikers, but that leaves quite a big demographic, including, apparently, women, who hold up half the [strike]sky[/strike] traffic.
Where it loses out, I’d say, is the lack of a flat floor for carrying a desktop PC system unit casing on. That’s a bit of a mass-market killer.
I think it is useful for people who want to feel like they are riding a motorcycle(the coolness factor, or build) but they don’t want to deal with the constant gearing up and down you have to do in the city. It has quite a big storage space under that hood(where a real bike’s gas tank should be). I’ve ridden one. They’re not bad, but…as someone who has owned a motorcycle, I wouldn’t feel right riding one. But then again, I care about other bikers looking at my ride at the traffic light. THe majority of ppl out there would go…oooh, a girl on a motorcycle, coool, but the bikers will know you’re faking. haha
So basically, you’re saying that it probably won’t appeal to real posers/fashion victims, because its too obvious a pose, so its appeal is limited to independent thinkers who’d buy it for its actual advantages.
It doesn’t seem that much different from Thailand’s scooter/motorcycle. I don’t think it will catch on in Taiwan though because floor cargo space is so useful.
It’s ugly as fuck, and weight doesn´t seem to be distributed as in other bikes, which may or may not be important in such a small thing. I don’t like it, and I would also feel embarrassed in the red lights
An ugly but beautiful bike (my current bike, btw ):
running at Ntd 140,000 right now ( costs only about 70 - 74,000 Baht in Thailand though ) but there are rumors that the main dealer for Honda is going to get in a lot of bikes next year and pricing will drop to around the Ntd 110,000 - 120,000 range…loads of after market parts available.
Havn’t been there for a few years, but they were basically Honda C50/90 clones (which you can also get here) or shinier versions thereof. Step-throughs with full size wheels, manual transmission, and a centrifugal clutch.
Probably, but this mostly tells us about the punters.
While this is of mild sociological interest (like, say, teenagers schoolyard opinions on the relative “coolness” of sports shoes) it tells us almost nothing about the merits/demerits of the product.
So far, you’ve said, in effect, that its garbage because it handles better. Even the teenagers might spot that one.

Hey did I mention it is garbage? Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
