Has anyone had this teacher at NTNU MTC?

I just got my schedule for a beginner’s class at NTNU MTC. I’ve heard people have had some pretty mediocre teachers there, so I’m curious if anyone has had this teacher:

If you have had this teacher, what did you think? It looks like I can only switch classes the first week so it’d be helpful to know if people have had a bad experience.

Your success in this course will ultimately depend on the quality of the student, rather than the quality of the teacher.

Why do you find it important to find if people have had negative experiences, rather than finding people who have had positive experiences?

A positive attitude is the first step to a positive outcome.

That is a good point, Charlie. I am also interested in positive experiences, but I only need to take action (change classes) if people have had negative experiences. I only ask because I have read that the quality of the teachers at NTNU MTC has declined, but there are some that are still great. I just want to make sure I get the best experience!

But yes, I agree that ultimately it is the student’s responsibility to be successful.

I went to MTC 20 years ago, and back then, the teachers were a joke. People getting their jobs based on party connections. I had a retired customs official at one point.

It is up to you, put in the work, keep at it, and you will learn. A bit from the teacher, the rest while living here or sitting on your bum in your dorm and work said bum off.

Seriously, don’t put her name out there to discuss her ‘ability’ before meeting her. It’s such a mean thing to do. She’s not an actress, she’s someone you make a relationship with and use to help you learn.

This isn’t an ‘experience’, it’s an exchange.

God, students make me spit, sometimes.

I fed her name into www.ratemyteachers.com but came up with a blank.

Sorry if I offended anyone. I am used to looking up reviews of teachers before taking their classes (www.ratemyprofessor.com). In my opinion, as someone who has taught a college course, this is not rude but simply a way of ensuring that your money is being well spent.

That said, I am sure I will get a lot out of the class as I am prepared to put in a lot of work. I edited my original post to hide the teacher’s name. Thanks for the replies.

I was never taught by   , but I understand that    is excellent. Avoid :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: like the plague, though.

To think that once upon a time there was no need to rate professors and look for “bad experiences” because people could stand being disagreed with.

I went to NTNU MTC a few years ago the teacher was fine. Just the co students mediocre…
