Heineken Mini Kegs rant
There are also no supplies of
Gulasch
or BELGIUM fries around. :frowning:
:ohreally: what blasphemous word is that to describe a lushious “carbonnade” :noway:

Hey belgian pie… don’t diss your neighbor! I lurv Stella but Heineken’s great too!

Dammit, I didn’t even want to read TaiwanSaffie’s post. I just wanted another look at his avatar.

Titto. Er, ditto.

Stella … that’s a dirty word now in Belgium … that means Brazilian capitalism, noone drinks Stella anymore in Belgium, same goes for Hoegaarden …

Gulasch is better than gulach

Saw the kegs down at the local Geant but my question is: What do you do with the keg once it’s finished? Can you get a refill or what?

Dang, TaiwanSaffies! That avatar sho’ is distracting! Now, let’s see, what were y’all talkin’ about? :help:

There is nothing wrong with the New Heineken Mini Keg. Not going to debate the taste of Heineken, some like it, some do not. The new Keg indeed needs to be put in a refrigerator (recommend +3degrees) for at least 10 hours. At Pubs, it will come with an Ice Bucket, esp. designed for the keg. I have tried several during the pre-Launch testing phase and now that it is officially introduced to the market. The foaming problem could either come from the fact that it was not sufficiently chilled, glass above room temperature or simply wrong pouring. Very important that you hold the Glass tight to the nozzle then you have no unwanted foam, just a nice head. We will certainly use these kegs during the World Cup so people have sufficient Beer supply on their tables when it is busy. Unfortunately there is no refilling or refund for the keg which is something I have questioned with Heineken as it is a lot of waste of good material, certainly a good looking keg. My suggestion, buy four at a time, have a glass cover made (opt for about 15mm in thickness) and after you finish the kegs, you get a cool looking Heineken Table.

That’s a great idea! :bravo:
I’m sure that would look really cool.
Someone else suggested making them into lights. (keg as the base)

Don’t they sell Kirin next to the paint thinner at the B&Q stores?
No I think you are confusing Kirin with Coors & Budweiser. Kirin is in fact a Mitsubishi Beer

Rode my bicycle to Pintung on Sunday and stopped at Carrefour to buy a light There was a scantily clad girl opening these mini-kegs and serving beer to the customers. She made it look fairly effortless. I walked over and made myself look interested in this new product so she poured me up almost a full 300cc glass. I was so thirsty at the time it tasted so good I almost bought one but wasn’t in the mood to lug it back 40km on the bike. I just may have to try them though.

A photograph would be a nice addition to your post above.

Can she also give a back rub and talk football?

Being Belgian, I am not a favorite of Heineken, but there is 1 thing that must be said. Those Dutch guys are clever bringing these Keg to this market. (different sizes, nice material etc…)
Did you saw the manual how to operate it? Specially the cartoons within are AWESOME. Nicely done. Soon to be spotted in each blue gravel truck for sure!

That’s a great idea! :bravo:

That’s about the only good way to use Heineken …

But your table would only stand a foot off the floor. Good for when you invite the smurfs over for dinner.

You could sort of drink 16 or so, connect them together and then instead of a coffee table, you will have a real cool dining table. I think these 5L kegs are phantastic. We promote them at the Tavern-Premier during the worldcup and it is a big help to get cold beer to the hundreds of thirsty guests and honestly the taste of the brew is really great.

Hmm how many hours before a game do you need to get to the Tavern though? I came by at 8:20 on Saturday and people were queuing up in the street. Heineken mini-keg at home sounds like a sensible plan.

I will post about this issue (queuing) in the Sports section later on. Agree it is also a good brew for home use, went through many of them while sitting in the garden yesterday, enjoying a bbq.
