Help! A call to All Sales and Marketing Gurus

For my job I need to find (for example) the largest PVC pipe industrial plants in lets say Russia, or rubber factories in India. My supervisor feels with my perfect english skills this shouldn’t be difficult. I’ve been surfing the web for a while now but it leads mostly to sore eyes. How can I efficiently find this kind of information, especially in the case of Russia where most web pages are exclusively Russian? Is is findable on the web? Or can i find this information somewhere else?

I don’t know anything about marketing, sales, pvc, or rubber, but the following google searches looked like they might help:

site:goliath.ecnext.com rubber india plant
site:goliath.ecnext.com pvc russia

Here’s a link to the first google search given above.
Here’s a link to the second google search.

And there may be other searches that could help. I don’t know anything about the site goliath.ecnext.com except that putting it on google along with a couple of keywords seems to yield something that looks like what you may be looking for.

Here are some links that look like they might hold promise:

Here’s info about a Russian company.

Here’s another Russian company.

Here’s the Web site of the Russian company linked above.

Here’s a link to a Web site called “India Rubber Directory.”

Well, I hope this helps, or at least doesn’t harm.

Assuming your company is Taiwanese, this is the kind of work the various Taiwanese trade offices undertake in different countries. I think you contact them through TAITRA. Some of the services are chargeable - the top service includes the respective office making contact with potential customers, fixing up meetings and meeting you at the airport.

I decided not to go ahead with their offer. But whilst living in the UK I was on one of the receiving ends of these projects (as an importer). The London office really were quite serious about it and seemed to have put a lot work in for their client.

You need Chinese to contact TAITRA here… they don’t really expect to be working for foreigners in Taiwan.

I sympathize with your situation - Taiwanese companies often seem to have a simplistic view of different markets and think its a simple matter for a foreigner to discover who the real players are.

Hey, Thanks for these great sites. The goliath site is like an international business site where i can access info on companies world wide, which is more efficient than using the regular google search. Unfortunately my work computer has trouble accessing these sites. Strange. Again, a many thanks.

You’re welcome!

As to accessing the sites, I don’t know anything about servers and so on, but maybe there is someone on the board who does, and can give you advice about that.

One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that with some computers, simply typing in the domain name followed by .com, .net, etc., isn’t enough. For some reason, either www. plus the domain name, etc., or www. plus the domain name, etc. (I forget which), has to be typed in. That probably isn’t the cause of your problem, but I mention it just in case.

Have you tried requesting trade leads on alibaba.com? You can get all kinds of funny replies but some are useful. Or you could search there.

Or you could contact the relevant offices in Taiwan of those countries you wish to source materials from. Might not work if you’re trying to sell them something though.

That’s what the offices are here for … stimulate trade with their countries.

But sourcing has nothing to do with sales or marketing … does it?
