Hi Forumosa, all the way from Sweden. For the past couple of months, I’ve been on a quest to document everything known about a fairly obscure Taiwanese album from 2015, 一個籮筐的討厭鬼 by 小福氣.
I’ve found it for sale on several Taiwanese websites, like Shopee, Yahoo Auctions, and Ruten. However, I get blocked from purchasing it since I’m not in Taiwan, and obviously they don’t offer international shipping.
Even if I were to be able to buy it, the price for shipping a CD across the world is very expensive, so are there any services to buy this album in lossless format anywhere online? The language barrier is making it very hard to search for. If anyone here owns the album, I’m willing to pay for a FLAC rip of the album.
The only seller I was able to contact to buy it wanted me to pay upwards of 200€, that’s about 6800 TWD. I know it might sound silly for me to say that it’s too expensive, but it’s literally the only seller I’ve come across, while searching for this at least once a week for 8 months.
They do, but in very poor quality. It’s the same 128kbps MP3 copy that I currently have. I know that it’s available in way better quality because the only song that saw an official release on Youtube sounds much, much, much, much better than that version.
If only it was that easy. I’ve already sent emails directly to Enno Cheng and KT Chang (the two vocalists of the band), they’re both way too famous to reply to them. I’ve reached out to their management as well, and got no reply. I’ve also reached out to White Wabbit Records (the album distributor) and been told it’s not available.
I agree. Even though I’ve been searching for this album passionately for months and made it my mission to not stop until I find it, I couldn’t justify paying a fourth of my monthly income to some random guy for a CD of it. I would just be scamming myself at that point.
They do, but it’s the same copy I already have (a 128kbps MP3 copy I got from some Chinese music site). I know that it’s available in way better quality because the only song that saw an official release on Youtube sounds much, much, much, much better than that version.
The CD itself is 800 and 900 NTD on Yahoo. I usually help a pal abroad to buy his collectibles here and then take them back myself when I travel once a year for the same reason: the item is usually inexpensive but the shipping costs are outrageous.
You’ve already invested a significant portion of your emotional time and effort into this, it would appear.
My honest suggestion would be to drop it and move on to something else. The artists and management clearly give zero shits so they’ve let it sink in the mud.
I’d say just buy it because it’s expensive but a false economy not to at this point, but what’s it going to be next, sounds like there will be another album or something to just fill the void.
If not already arranged, I can maybe help you out. I just need the actual cost of the cd and shipping reimbursed. Shipping from Taiwan can be quite reasonable and is reliable as well.
