Help needed with scooter licence

i have been riding my 50 cc scooter now for over a year and have only just heard you have to have a license for the thing - how and where are you supposed to go for this?

does it have to be registered or anything like that?

You get a license, register your bike etc. at a Department of Motor Vehicles office, of which there is at least one in every city in Taiwan.

If the bike is not registered to you and you can’t get hold of the previous owner, you have a problem. You can’t register it in your name without the previous owner’s ID (or ARC if he/she was a foreigner).

I believe, although I’m not quite sure, that you only have to do the written test for a licence up to 50cc. For anything bigger you have to do the practical as well.
