Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing

Does anyone know if it’s available in Taipei anywhere?

I haven’t seen it. I looked also. I settled on the bottle of dry mix sold in the spice section at Costco. Mix with milk and mayo. Not bad and it’s easy to adjust the consistancy and flavor strength. Makes a good veggy dip. I also add some chopped bacon or some garlic. Good chip dip too.

It’s in Jason’s, next to the Happy Valley Cross Dressing.

That’s the one with the lovely pink ribbon, and the pretty little frill around the botttle top.

Available in your dreams! I was completely addicted to that stuff when I first got to Taiwan. Used to beg American friends to send it to me. Of course, most milk and mayo sold in Taiwan doesn’t taste like American milk or mayo, and if you’re a true Hidden Valley HO like I was, that’s going to be maddening, anyway. I finally just got used to the McCorrmic variety mentioned above, from Costco. I had some serious withdrawal for a good couple months, but I survived. I also lost weight! Yea, you’re either going to have to get used to thousand island, get some pre bottled paul newman dressings from costco (some are very good) or start making your own oil and ninegar dressing.

But I’m here for you if you need to talk. I’ve felt your pain!

Hah! I payed $50 extra just to bring back heavy bottles of it the last time I went to the States because my luggage was over the weight limit. You’re right about it being fattening. I put on 6 pounds in two weeks after getting back. That’s all I wanted to eat. Of course, I was eating the ranch dressing with nachos and sour cream…

Mmm. Let’s not forget ranch pizza. I mixed the dry HV mix into creamed potatos. I used it to bread chicken. I sprinkled it over french fries and baked potatos. I almost never ate a meal without it. Ranch potato soup! Mmmm. Of course, ranch veggie dip. Oh, and fried pickles with ranch dressing!

I know this likely doesn’t help, but man, I mean I was hard core!

Google is yer buddy!

TainanCowboy is my buddy! Thanks! Wish I’d had this when in Taiwan. But still very useful.

I know it’s a poor substitute, but I did see Wishbone ranch dressing in the basement grocery at Mitsukoshi Taipei Main last week.

Why on earth would someone want to eat a dressing from a ranch in a hidden valley? How did they find the ranch in the first place … as the valley is hidden …?

I’m just glad this isn’t in the Food Forum. Dried parsley, dried oregano, dried onion, salt, msg, … god in heaven! People actually seeking out recipes for complete junk food. No wonder the US has an obesity crisis.

Things that are hidden should stay hidden … they are hidden for a good reason …

So, anyone tried the Cross Dressing yet?

Me. No good. Some of it always rides up your arse-crack.

Of course, you are right. I am glad to say that I have finally gotten my habbit under controle, thanks to Taiwan.

FYI: I requested it at Wellman’s and VOILA!..they ordered it for me. All you have to do is speak up. I spoke to the guy in Chinese, but I’m sure his English is just dandy there, considering the clientele.

I went to Wellman’s today and picked up my bottle, 160NT ouch, but worth it. They had so many varieties of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing, took me a minute to find the original one, ha. SB6, thanks for speaking up for all of us.
