Hire a caregiver?

I need information on hiring a caregiver (possibly a live-in). The person would be needed to help care for someone here in Taiwan who has had a stroke.

I know people who have hired housekeepers from overseas only to discover the person doesn’t know how to operate even simple electrical appliances. So I’m reluctant to hand over the necessary care of a loved one to someone found through the usual labor-broker route. But I don’t know how I could afford a real nurse, or how to find one even if I did have that kind of money.

Does anyone have any experience in this area? Also, what sort of expense would this involve? Would National Heath Insurance help pay for any of this?
