How anonymous is Taiwan Pay for cash transfers?

I’m organizing an anonymous online event and need to collect payment, I’m thinking of using my bank number and account number, I.e. xxx for bank, xxxxxxxx for account number

Can someone find out my real name using these two pieces of info? Assuming they are a regular person doing a query and not someone with a warrant.

I assume they’d only be able to deposit, not set up withdrawals

If you really want or need to be anonymous this is not the way to go unless you have a account in a small private bank or in a offshore tax haven.

Anyway tell me more about the event

Use PayPal to a new email and bank account and delete once you are done

PayPal doesn’t work for TWD except with E.Sun that I don’t really want to open an account with

Another option is anonymous line account but I don’t know if they allow me to link my identity to a second line account for line pay

In the US there would be so many anonymous methods… cashapp, venmo, PayPal etc

You can use playcards. Maybe not the most convenient method.

It sounds like a bit too much work / scammy

I’d rather just use my account number if it’s not super easy to get personal name. And even if they do it’s not the end of the world, I just don’t want it easily exposed to all attendees.

Agree!

What kind of event are we talking about? It’s for Taiwanese people?

Yeah all locals, we will meet online and sometimes in person events, they know me by my English name

I’d use crypto, for sure. But not sure who your audience is, or their comfort level with that sort of thing.

PayPal also does not allow transfers between two Taiwanese PayPal accounts. :sideeye:

I think I’ll just use my bank account. Crypto is a bit complicated for the audience. I’ll try square merchant website but not sure if they take Taiwan credit cards.

The event theme is bit controversial, but worst case if they find out my identity and someone leaks it to my network, people might get a good laugh out of it, but it’s not breaking the law or anything, just a side of my life that I’d rather keep hidden.

Set up a new bank account. Even in your name. Seriously. It’s not hard and it protects you from lots of consequences

For Taiwan you might try to collect via QR-Code or link with Line Pay or EasyWallet.
The latter is not widely used yet.
