How do I know where and when to take out the trash?

Is there a place where I can find out where and when does the trash truck comes by?

I just moved in and I heard they come at 4, so I came out with a heap of boxes and waited and waited, and no trash truck came by nor did I hear any music at all. So how I got a bunch of trash too big for me to move myself, and nowhere to put it.

maybe your house has a garbage collection point somewhere? Large apartment blocks also have sometimes people who take car of your garbage for a few dollar per month. You put your rubbish in front of your door everyday and they pick up, I used to give them 300NT per month.

if you live in a house on at least a semi decent road they come by your door. apartments/condos should have bins for their residents i would think. but houses you stand on the street and put it in when they drive by. Most areas also have recycle and compost trucks, though less frequent. I am not sure if this varies, but they stopped picking up trash left in piles a few years ago here cause it was making a HUGE mess and i bet someone got their belongings thrown out now and then.

We have garbage mon-sat and recycle tues/friday with compost on thursday. We live on a tiny street so we dont pay due to us having to walk our trash to the next street (15m) where they pay $500 a year.

Usually you just ask your neighbours. They can tell you what times and what days.

If you can’t, your city government should have a schedule up online for your street. PM me your city & street and I’ll look it up for you.

  1. Public board at the entrance of building has schedule. The truck normally comes by twice a day, afternoon and evening.

  2. Ask any Flipino maid

  3. Remember service is not daily, they take one day off, usually Wednesdays.

Download the schedule and check the closest point / time to your apartment.
Schedule can be found here,

Do you know if there is a similar schedule for other cities? I managed to find Tainan’s Environmental Protection website, but the English site offers no help and the Chinese site only has a downloadable auxiliary schedule, and I’m not sure if they really mean auxiliary or if that’s Google Translate’s fault.

If you are ever desperate, take your bags to a night market around midnight. There is always garbage ready to be collected in the early hours.

Anybody have an update website to find trash collection schedules in Taipei.

Thank you!

Went out at the designated time at the designated locations… nothing. I guess they don’t collect on Wednesdays???

The website shows the routes and daily times, but seems to be no information on days of the week…

Yes. There is no garbage collection for the public on Wednesdays and Sundays.
