Is there a place where I can find out where and when does the trash truck comes by?
I just moved in and I heard they come at 4, so I came out with a heap of boxes and waited and waited, and no trash truck came by nor did I hear any music at all. So how I got a bunch of trash too big for me to move myself, and nowhere to put it.
maybe your house has a garbage collection point somewhere? Large apartment blocks also have sometimes people who take car of your garbage for a few dollar per month. You put your rubbish in front of your door everyday and they pick up, I used to give them 300NT per month.
if you live in a house on at least a semi decent road they come by your door. apartments/condos should have bins for their residents i would think. but houses you stand on the street and put it in when they drive by. Most areas also have recycle and compost trucks, though less frequent. I am not sure if this varies, but they stopped picking up trash left in piles a few years ago here cause it was making a HUGE mess and i bet someone got their belongings thrown out now and then.
We have garbage mon-sat and recycle tues/friday with compost on thursday. We live on a tiny street so we dont pay due to us having to walk our trash to the next street (15m) where they pay $500 a year.
Do you know if there is a similar schedule for other cities? I managed to find Tainan’s Environmental Protection website, but the English site offers no help and the Chinese site only has a downloadable auxiliary schedule, and I’m not sure if they really mean auxiliary or if that’s Google Translate’s fault.
