How do you manage reverse charging

I’m curious… On your zenfone 10? Tks.

No answers? Ok. I connected cables to my phone and plugged in my wife’s powerbank via USB-C to USB-C. I thought it would charge just like my old USB cable did. Instead… it stole my phone’s power. I couldn’t see any settings for that. I tried different cables, too. Same result. … so I’m puzzled. How can I choose which device gets charged?

Use a USB-A-to-C convertor on the charger side, maybe?

This usually doesn’t happen anymore, but I remember stories of phones trying to charge the Tesla they were plugged into for a while.

Yeah. I might have to just use its A ports instead. I don’t have a cable for that. Amazingly… I have a million cables but not that one!

I find that to be par for the course

on google phones, settings-batter-battery share

On my phone (Pixel 7), that setting seems to be specifically for wireless charging?

It suggests that, but seems to turn it on / off for wired as well for me.

edit: seems that way for others:

I have no battery share options on my Asus. So I wonder if it’s via some other setting or if the cable determines the power direction.

Some phones just don’t do it.

Yeah, it could be just unidirectional on my phone. I can charge others, but no one can charge mine!

It could be the phone or cable or power brick not delivering enough power. Get accubattery, what does it report? If it’s reverse charging it will tell you. My Pixel had this problem if using USB-A to USB-C. It needed PD to charge at all (though it’s probably something wrong with the phone, something on that phone is really wanting power).
