How loud should a washing machine be on spin cycle?

How loud should a washing machine be on spin cycle? I just bought my first “typical Taiwan” washing machine. By typical, I mean the plastic top loading kind. I’ve had the front loading type with a dryer, a plastic top loading type elsewhere in the building. The front loading type is a bit loud, and when I had the top loader, it was far away so I don’t know how loud it was.
The one I have now, when it spins, it bangs loudly every time. I’ve tried stopping the spin, rearranging the clothes so it’s more balanced, and restarting the spin, but with the same result. It works and finishes the spin cycle, it just seems like it’s off balance every time it spins and bangs around. Like, really loudly. Like the police are beating down the door. Is that normal, or did I buy a lemon? It’s second-hand, so that’s always a risk. Contacting the seller isn’t an option, and I’m not calling a repairman as long as it works.
If that’s not normal, any tips for a quick fix?

Maybe the legs need adjusting to make it level. Kind of like when a table is on an uneven floor and need to put something under the leg to make it stable.

Probably the balance is off. Try adjusting the little screws at each corner.

But the other issue to understand is that cheap Taiwanese washing machines ARE very loud compared to Japanese ones. Not worth the money as I found out.

Yeah, I tried that, but it seems not to help.

What screws? At the bottom on the legs? I’ve tried adjusting the balance and it doesn’t help.

Even with no clothes, it still makes a noise. It seems like the (forgive my terminology) inner drum is banging within the outer drum. The outer drum doesn’t seem to be hitting the sides of the machine. I’ve tried spinning the inner drum by hand and there’s no sound or vibration. The outer drum isn’t moving much. It’s only when it spins at top speed that something seems off balance. It may not even be balance; it could just be one part is striking another.

Prob defective

If it is over loaded or under loaded, the inner drum will hit the outer one. That’s all I know. There could also be other problems, such as a blocked pipe, either of the water coming in, or the one going out.

OTOH, washing machine is one of those things I always made sure to buy new. Yucky. And also because when it fails it is a biggie. You can get a new Panasonic for 11k, up to 16k. Pay monthly installments, no interest.

Yeah, but for that price I could by 3 used ones and take a chance.
