How slow is US visa processing these days for people based in Asia?

My wife’s immigrant visa petition has been sitting at the NVC stage for months while we’re living here in Taipei. Has anyone gone through the wait recently - did you get useful updates, or just silence until the interview letter arrived? We’re trying to decide how much of our life here to put on hold while we wait. Any recent experiences would be appreciated.

We’re 15 months into our wait. And, yes would also love to chat with others experiencing this ban on legal immigration. I see Bolsonaro didn’t have a delay at all…

Probably irrelevant, but my wife’s Australian Partner Visa (309) was granted within just one month. We could’ve gone the tourist visa and onshore bridging visa route, but weren’t in any rush.

Amazing how quickly things can move when a country actually takes border control seriously rather than allowing mass illegal immigration to overwhelm the system. Funny that, isn’t it?

That’s a great point and true. That said, due to an endless poorly run government on both sides of the aisle, Americans that even just want to visit with their foreign spouse are no longer allowed to do so. Will this change, yes, when the other side of the endless poorly run government gets back in power. It’s a permanent pendulum swing at this point. Not good.
