How the KMT could save itself

The. KMT’s biggest problem was that china-loving old people(mostly ex-military) only make up a small percentage of KMT voters and an even smaller percentage of the general population.

They also are the ones who are disproportionately likelier to pay their dues to the party and have rights to vote in the primary.

So any KMT candidate had to satisfy these old loons in the primary. Before being rejected by the general population

They arent that statistically relevant in the general population. They could always vote for the New Party

That’s a pretty good summary of 2016 and 2020.

Guy

So this leads to an interesting questions. Without this bloc, can the KMT win a presidential election? I think they can, but a lot of things need to go right for them—a weak DPP candidate, a strong charismatic KMT nominee, China behaving quietly and not lashing out at Taiwan as they often do . . . Will these conditions line up in 2024?

Guy

They are not statistically relevant.

Most. KMT voters are not pro-reunification

Hou is one of the most popular politicians in Taiwan. Not sure why he is so popular or if justified, but its true. This time around the DPP have nobody as universally liked.

I honestly think its a good thing that you will have a KMT and DPP candidate who are basically ‘pro-Taiwan’ and that elections will be less China focused

Lee Wo-shih 李沃士 was handed an eight-year prison sentence for corruption, but an appeal found there was not enough evidence, which led to a new shorter conviction.

And they keep voting for these people…

In terms of corruption, all sides are equally as shit. One cares about Taiwan, the other cares about China. Kinda the main point. They are all beyond corrupt as anything. My only hope is that if they want to do such BS, at least steal with some kind of public benefit (ie. Water security, better schools, better traffic safety or at least something close to beneficial)

I don’t thnk so at all. There have been way more issues with KMT corruption than DPP corruption by far.

For sure. Especially over time. The Chinese KMT have always been insaleny corrupt. They remain so today. My bad, I am used to trying to give an olive branch to CKMT to let them get off their pedestal of (percieved) moral high ground just to try and get them to come back to center with objectivity and logic. That is to say, make a friend and slowly change. Rather than the usual black or white conflict which still creates zero results. I noticed recently my speech and style is flawed in this respect due to having to do this so often. That said, the DPP is still as corrupt as shit. And the proof is in the puddin. Aka, lower government. I hold Tsai as probably the best president we have ever had in this country. However…the party. Yikes. Still ultra corrupt. It is undeniable. The last election voted for a very obvious proc CKMT/China party (Ke P) hoping for something different. This should be an obvious wake up call. It was already obvious after Chen when the country voted for Ma. But seems the DPP still isn’t getting the memo…so I still maintain, DPP is still trash. It’s just by far better than the alternative trash. That being, hell bent on becoming China and an oppressed society for some super strange reason that still escapes me

Both the KMT’s shit and the DPP’s shit smell bad, just to different degrees and during different events. Some individual politicians could be okay, but their party still is shit.

me too

Taiwan KMT legislator sentenced to 8 years, 4 months for corruption and forgery

Taichung District Prosecutor’s Office (TDPO) brought charges against Yen, his wife Chen Li-ling (陳麗凌), his brother Yen Neng-hsien (顏能賢), his assistant Lin Chin-fu (林進福), and designer Chang Yu-ting (張于廷) in March 2023. Chen was acquitted, Lin was sentenced to six months in prison, and Chang received a four-month sentence.

Some of the politicians are in the game just to line their own pockets. They are not interested in serving the public.

Some???

How about 99.99%, on both sides, lol

I think the Yen clan in Taichung falls into a special category that is far more particular than your general smear against all persons in that profession would indicate. Look these people up—seriously.

Guy

KMT, TPP, DPP, they all wear dirty diapers.

When you post like that, it seems you have no idea about the specifics of the Yen clan.

And if you are aware of the specifics and you keep posting general smears like this, with no differentiation, then I seriously doubt your ability to really assess those data points.

Guy

Don’t give a rat’s ass about Yen clan like you clearly do.
Politicians’ diapers never get changed. They all stink. Some can hide the smell better than others.

Yes that is clear. Thank you for supporting my point.

Guy

Stop wearing horse blinders when it comes to politicians.
