How to become a personal trainer in Taiwan

Some of you guys know that i’m working on building a basketball academy here. I have a few coaches, but unfortunately i’m the only one without pro experience. Not that you need it to coach and teach young athletes if you know what you are doing. My only advantage is that i am 6’3 190 and 210lbs or 95kgs. So I look like an athlete, but we charge a premium at 1500-2000 a session. So the parents are usually wealthy and can be superficial and want to pick the guy that played a year in the SBL when I probably could have too at my size. But I’m very interested in working with athletes and just anyone that wants to get fit, and I think it would really look good if I am a certified personal trainer coaching.

Anyone a personal trainer here or know how to become one?

Unfortunately if anyone did know, due to the competitive nature of Taiwan’s working environment they would be unlikely to share their knowledge with you just out of the good of their hearts, unless you brought something to their table ($$$).

I’m mostly using the certificate to work with athletes, mostly basketball. I doubt many personal trainers do that in Taiwan. Most of them don’t even look like they work out and leech of clueless wealthy women who wants to “tone”

Right, but like you say, if there aren’t many people doing that, then the few that are probably wouldn’t want to tell you how to get into it, as they’d be concerned of the possibility of you becoming more well-known than them and losing (potential) clients.

As with everything here, there is a national test you have to take and then you get your license. Which means going to the specific buxiban that has the data on what is on the test.

This as per a pal who looked into it as she was interested.

Maybe @Formosa_Fitness can chime in on this?

I’ve been looking at ISSA, but I don’t know if it’s legit.
The website is here, it’s like 700$ for the online course that they send info to you. But I wonder if it’s respectable in the fitness industry here.
