With COVID I donāt think itās happening anytime soon.
Besides what European maker would allow me to apprentice under them? I can learn European languages, I already speak a little German.

I actually ran into a shop close to some temple in Ximen. Makes hand made cameras out of wood. Guy said he could give me some work making camera parts for him, but so far he hasnāt gotten back to me. When I go to show him my work he has nothing good to say about it. Always finding little details to say something wrong about it or being dismissive in general. Apart from the fact that he isnāt making his requests very clear so I keep falling short.
I am not sure I can survive a shifu here. I will probably kill myself if I try.

I didnāt know how to say Ni Hao when I came here 14 years agoā¦ yet here I am. Donāt look for excuses, look for solutions. Nobody knows any wood carvers, you gotta go out there, try to meet some and be persistent. No one will tell you āoh yeah, I was just looking for an apprenticeā. Better annoy the @!#$% out of them until eventually one will take you under his wing.

You are doing better off than most of them right now with Europe being really messed up.
Get a 9-5 that pays the bills. And look for these kinds of jobs.
I told you, many Japanese do it. Also some Chinese people have been bringing the craft to China.
There are some shoe makers in Taiwan. Maybe you can apprentice under them?
Maybe work a retail job thatās artisan based for now. This is a famous French shoe making company.
Also this guy Steven makes amazing leather goods. Maybe you can apprentice under him. Heās so busy last time I asked there was a 6 month waiting time for a tiny wallet.

Full time job means working until you die from overwork here in Taiwan. Didnāt you see all those news about people dying at their desk because they work 12 hour shifts? You practically have to work 80 hour weeks with no overtime working in Taiwan, especially a shitty soul destroying job that offers zero professional or personal developments.
Of course people here working 20 hours a week while making over 50k a month here would never understandā¦

How old are you? Go enlist and be a tank mechanic or something like that.
Iām serious. The pay is pretty good. You get tax benefits. I think utilities are subsidized. You stay on base most of the time so no need for rent. You get a nice pension.
Go to one of those islands, and you can make like 80k a month as a specialist.

It sounds like you have really unrealistic expectations when it comes to work. This basically describes most jobs everywhere. Time to adjust your expectations.
